Just watched Maleficent with eldest child (10). Surprisingly good for Disney with no songs, little schmaltz (alright, a bit) and a good plot. Was dreading it after Frozen, but actually rather enjoyed it.

Wonderful film. The granny is a hero.

No doubt. There's so much to pick up on I hadn't realised for a good while she had one leg shorter than the other. A photograph of one of the bad guys wearing a 'sucker' badge being photographed in front of the Hollyfood sign. The slimy maître d literally bending over backwards for the ultimate Mafia boss. It was all so beautifully observed but cleanly original.

Terrors advocate a doc about Jacques verges who defended many war criminaks / terrorists. Fascinating if you are interested in the days of Algerian independence, 70/80s left wing terrorism etc.

Grand Budapest Hotel. Great visual piece, nice soundtrack. 'Dont flirt with her!'

The Tree of Life. Not everyone's cup of tea and definitely not Mallick's best but it's visually brilliant and very bold.

Re-watched Prometheus after reading up on what the eff is going on, enjoyed it much more, hated the quasi-religious shit, just give me pure sci-fi, looking forward to the sequel.

I've got a DVD of the original un-remastered cut, the quality is pure gash but it's SO much more charming without the retrofitted CGI

I got a torrent of the first 3 (OK IV, V and VI) taken from original Laserdisc - excellent - without CGI etc

Being disappointed by Prometheus is like being disappointed by Dumb & Dumber To, it was NEVER going to match the originals, although as a piece of action sci-fi set in a world I wanted to know more about it passed

I enjoyed it even though it was flawed... I love CGI...
