  • Pacific Rim... Hmmm...

It's a mish mash of all the Transformers films

    Still quite liked it

Transformer films are already a mish mash
(Of lorries and robots , no?)

  • Violet and Daisy

Enjoyed it, stylised violence and close shots. Just a little weird.

Noticed, I do not do reviews very well.

  • Antiviral - If you like Cronenberg, give it a go. Start premise not perfect still a very decent flick. Also creepy.

American Mary - Not sure I mentioned yet, sounds crap but actually quite good.

    On next: Jacob's Ladder.

  • Filth was fucking excellent. I'd pay to see it again.

Went to see it last night and it seems my brother and I were the only ones getting the jokes and laughing. There must have been too many innocents there.

Recommended, although I think those with a chequered past will enjoy this the most.

  • The Heat,
The idea has been done so may times didn't really want to bother. Beverly Hills Cop, Lethal Weapon etc. But boredom got the better of me... and glad I did

Pacy, daft and funny. Especially liked the drunk dancing bit (easily pleased)

  • Filth is easily the best film I've seen in 5 years or more

  • Filth is easily the best film I've seen in 5 years or more

Thats a bold one, I couldnt have said that. Although I did enjoy it!

  • yeah maybe not 5 years

  • Filth is easily the best film I've seen in 5 years or more

I suppose it depends on what films you've seen in the last five years.

For me it's by far the most enjoyable movies I've watched in the cinema for a long time, I usually download, as modern movies are largely a let down and not worth paying for.

Saying that I would pay to watch Filth again.

  • Jacob's Ladder well shot/acted let down by script clutter. But worth a watch as a lot of movies SO stole from it later on.

  • Currently watching Only God Forgives.

I really thought I'd like it from the trailer, and because Ryan Gosling is a good guy, but so far it has been thoroughly un-enjoyable, downright gruesome and not at all compelling. I could happily turn it off right now, never to return.

  • Finally got around to seeing Rush. It only came out here on the 27th.
I liked it A LOT, but...
When Guy Secretan and Goldilocks popped up, I feared it might all get a bit 'Italian-Job'-reloaded. Neither of them act, they play themselves in everything they do.
That aside, ace film. Cinematography was great where it really mattered.

    Meanwhile...

  • Precious on iPlayer is pretty depressing, but great.

Yep watched it the other night, brilliant but as you've said depressing.

  • Any recommendations for a film to watch at the cinema this Friday night?

Saw a few people upthread recommending filth. Anything else, or should I just go for that?

I really hoped there would be something special after watching the place beyond the pines, which was quite decent viewing without going further into it. Now Only god forgives. WRONG. There is no god to forgive that bloated, self satisfied shit orgy of pretentious video masquerading as a movie.
It's like they discovered there's a veil thin plot and decided to have Kristin Scott Thomas go on a swearing rampage that makes your local geezer sound like a teletuby.

    Anyway, I didn't like it.....

Consider Prisoners. I really enjoyed it, tense, looks good. Maybe just a touch long.

  • Just saw The Paperboy. I loved it. Not often I finish watching a film and want to go right back to the beginning and watch it again. It's like Tennesee Williams colliding violently with Deliverance. The performances and styling are fucking perfect. It's languid and atmospheric, funny, disturbing. Love to know what others thought of it. If you've not seen it yet I definitely recommend.

That was my only gripe great film tho, Release wise this friday is pretty rubbish....

  • My first film of this year's BFI Film Festival: The Bounceback.

I loved it - an indie rom/com without the schmalziness and cliche of a big budget rom/com. And no Katherine Heigl.

We had a Q&A with the producer after, which was interesting and informative. The overall budget came in under $1,000,000, which surprised me, considering the overall look and feel of the film.

  • Really want to see Filth.

On a side note, people on this thread might like this website: http://www.movieposterstudio.com/

Got some cool stuff on there, including this poster. Pretty cool, but I can't understand Japanese.

  • ^Looks a good film
    Wonder what it is?

  • Watched Gravity in 3D last night. Very good. Some absolutely breathtaking lengthy single takes.
