  • I had the misfortune of watching Prometheus last week (finally). Totally worse than I was expecting. Not even any good one-liners. The worst thing is imagining how many undergrad gender studies students will now write about that Caesarean.

  • Prometheus, is indeed, jaw-droppingly awful. Sadly, there will undoubtedly be at least one sequel, which will be even worse.

  • Just finnished watching $9.99 if you like requim for a dream quite a good watch though it hasn't sunk in yet.

  • Skyfall looks like the same nasty, dark, pseudo intellectual shite that all modern films have become - the Dark Bond rises. Mind you, I think Bond films are like fireworks displays, seen one you've seen them all.

  • ^ But they don't all have Daniel Craig in them :)

  • old jug ears is back

  • Just got back from Skyfall. Thought it was excellent..

    Javier Bardem was brilliant.

  • ^^ Snap - Agree totally.

  • Got taken by the GF to an Argentinian film the other day - 'El Secreto De Sus Ojos' or 'The Secret In Their Eyes'.

It was all in (Argentinian) Spanish... subtitled into Japanese. Relied on the GF translating key parts (she's Venezuelan so obviously speaks Spanish) but didn't understand 95% of it.

    Still fucking brilliant.

There's one particular sequenced shot lasting about 5-10 minutes, starting with a helicopter flying over a football game and seamlessly becoming a foot chase through the inside of the stadium, without a visible cut. Incredible. I can only find the beginning of said scene online:

  • ^^^

I've got this film on DVD. Still haven't watched it. Better get around to it one day.

  • ^^ if you liked this, try "La Nueve Reinas" Nine Queens.
also has Ricardo Darin, from 2000, but is downloadable....

  • I watched the new Spiderman film last night.

    I thought it was alright.

I mainly just love Emma Stone

  • I thought Spiderman was ok - was thinking they were going to tell us more about Peter's parents but that thread didn= not lead anywhere. Still quite watchable, +1 for Emma Stone.

  • The secret in their eyes was awesome... I think I watched it with english subtitles, and still didn't understand most of what was going on, but remember really enjoying it. :D

  • Watched Iron Sky yesterday..

Don't make the same mistake I did

  • I can't wait to see the US "long version" cut of The Shinning on the big screen.

  • I watched 50/50 last night. It's about a guy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in his late twenties who is diagnosed with cancer and given a 50/50 chance of survival. His best friend (Seth Rogen) tries to look after him in his own way. Anjelica Huston is cancer guy's mum. It's actually quite a good film, it's on Netflix.

Watched it on a plane. It was far more palatable than I thought it would be, particularly as I've not really been a Rogen fan since freaks and geeks.

  • If you like 50/50, you should check this out:

  • I watched Ruby Sparks last night... Really enjoyed it, went a bit creepy two-thirds of the way in but finished OK... Amazing Spiderman was better than I expected it to be, +1 on Emma Stone... #crush

  • Skyfall is decent, bit cheesy at times and a few too many nods to the old films but its worth watching. Some stunning scenery

Javier Bardem is such a good bad guy too #mancrush

I quite like it too, and the soundtrack is great.

  • Yep 50/50 has some really good music in it.

Hoops, thanks for the recommendation, I'll check out 'It's a funny kind of story'.

  • Watched Iron Sky yesterday..

Don't make the same mistake I did

I enjoyed it. Yes, it's campy and silly and absurd and full of holes.

It is, however, an independent film and to see it on the big screen at all is amazing. And fuck it, it's bizarre fun.

  • Did anyone else become annoyed by the effects in Skyfall, the shot where it cuts to him riding on the roof looks terrible as does the underground crash.
