wrong, one of my favourite childhood films, i won't hear anything less than 10
I agree ...
can't be that shit if you gave it 6
but if I was to watch it afresh today then there are things in it that haven't aged well. The acting is hokey and the modern movies you draw comparisons with are just more polished. So a 6 or 7 sounds about right. Actually I say this without thinking off one good genre example - damn.
Hmm maybe the studio's don't really care about the current teen boy market, apart from Harry Potters of course which are now finished. I can't think of anything like, Indiana Jones, BTTF, Last Starfighter etc made for the current generation.
I know someone will say what about the Marvel movies - well actually if you think about it those movies are being pitched at us 20/30 somethings rather than teens.
BTW the Avengers trailer is out. Looks good, will have to wait and see.

what about the narnia, golden compass movies?
Good point, I had forgotten about those. I loved the Narnia books when I was a kid, saw the first two films was not impressed. Ok, they were better than the TV movies they made in the 90s. But not great examples, do you think in 10 years time the current teens will be holding up those movies like we hold up. Indy, BTTF, Karate Kid, Last Starfighter etc?
Or perhaps the movies are made to be less memorable so that the studios can recycle stories more easily?

I am not sure how important single films are these days.
There seem to be more high budget productions coming out
all the time.
Also its hard to judge new movies from the perspective
of a young person who hasn't seen that many films in their life.
There will always be something that will impress a new generation. -

On Sunday I witnessed the abomination they're calling The Three Musketeers. It was utter bobbins. Orlando was ordinary, the bloke who hangs out the back of Keeley Hawes is as dull as usual and the bloke who plays the big lad is not remotely memorable. Dogtanian has an truly terrible haircut.
Christopher Waltz was quite good though, but the script certainly didn't stretch his talents.
All in all 4/5 out of 10.

you didn't pay too see that did you?

I recommend "The Driver". You can see how a lot of the style inspired "Drive".
But the car chases are much better and the way Isabelle Adjani rides in the car
during the last chase is awesome. -
• #4342
Watching a film for the a car chase is like ordering a cocktail for the sparklers. Yeah they're cool, but only if the cocktail tastes good too.
-
• #4343
no, the film has a lots of style and minimal dialogue like Drive with a darker atmosphere
but on top of that the car chases are better. -
• #4344
also the driver looks less like a child and more like a grown up but also with a soft streak
-
• #4345
and he mumbles less

fairly pap. but mildy enjoyable.Bunraku is interestingly styled, and quite fun to watch, but the plot is balls and makes no sense.

Also got Unthinkable (sammy jackson, interogatingnazisterrorists?) dont know anything about it really. -
