  • Watching Dig! unsure if I give a shit yet.

Freaking love that film. An appreciation for the BJM and DW helps. What a mess.

  • You watched all (is it 3 or 4 series?) of breaking bad and arrested development and all those films in the last month or so?

i watched all seasons of breaking bad in a few days...just couldnt stop.
arrested development took a bit longer but each episode is only 20min or so.

  • Arrested development rocks and its going to be a film soon.

  • The fountain - pointless
Book of eli - religious nonsense

  • we have a screening of Dummy Jim next week - interesting story about a profoundly deaf Scotsman who cycled solo to the Arctic in 1951

    http://dummyjim.com/cycle/

  • OG fright night on some north-of-the-border, way-past-the-shopping-network channel as we speak. great movie - if you can stomach the 80s synth pop soundtrack.

  • Went and saw Almodovars new one - The Skin I Live in. Bit of a mind bender to say the least.

No one else wondering if it was a good date movie?

  • finally got round to watching 'Hurt Locker' about the American bomb squad.
enjoyed the story, casting was OK, sets were brilliant, but don't watch it too hard, otherwise wide gaping holes in the scenes, camera work and directing start to appear, rapidly!

Gets a 6.5/10 from me. WORTH the watch, but don't expect perfection.

  • have Long Good Friday waiting to be watched, wonder if it'll be too violent for family company, dint realise it's an 18...
also the London Nobody Knows and Bicyclettes de Belsize, for more london filmage.

  • DO NOT WANT.

George Lucas has done something silly to Return of the Jedi on the new Blue Ray versions of the original trilogy.

Pretty much. Original release of nothing. Even the 90s has some shit bits.

  • ...
    howls moving castle 6/10...

    Eh?

How could that film get a 6/10? Did someone upset you on the day that you watched it?
Ok, its not as good as Spirited Away, but less than a 7 is truly a harsh verdict.

  • watched troll hunter last night. well good.

  • I didn't think it would be that good just going on the trailer, maybe i'll give it a watch.

  • yesh looks like the next high quality spoof cant wait
so glad its film season again, shit loads of good stuff coming up our way, your way:-

    sorry if repost,
might go and see the Ladykillers which is on our way, so enjoyable mrs Wilberforce.

  • which version of the ladykillers? Even though the newer one was slated, i still quite enjoyed it

  • the original, all that London scenery around Kings X being as much as a star, seeing it in Nunhead Cemetry would be awesome, actually never caught the remake.

Not bad at all mate, just back from 10 great days in the Alps, now to get round to seeing Tree of Life.

  • I just watched this;
    http://vimeo.com/28404579

Its a short film about 75 year old diver Ray Ives, it really gets across his charm, well worth 15 mins of your time.

  • Lovely.

  • Eh?

How could that film get a 6/10? Did someone upset you on the day that you watched it?
Ok, its not as good as Spirited Away, but less than a 7 is truly a harsh verdict.

it bored me to death. it was just a collection of random elements.
it never gels into anything coherent. I thought there was just a lot of
filler before the actual story unfolds but it never did.
the fire daemon was cute, that's about it.

  • 6/10 still marks it out as a "good" film though right? I.e. in the top percentile.

  • Not bad at all mate, just back from 10 great days in the Alps, now to get round to seeing Tree of Life.

good to hear quality times in the bag, give us your verdict on 'Tree....' be interested to hear it,
Clint has just downed a bogey firefox by thinking in Russian, not sure how that goes down now the cold war is over but anyway,
starting now on 5 Spiderman 2 done by Raimi, with wizard visuals and Kirsten Dunst, what more do you need for sunday tea?

  • Book of eli - religious nonsense

Couldn't agree more. Bland entertainment at best

finally got round to watching 'Hurt Locker' about the American bomb squad.

Bordering on propagandist, over-patriotic undertones again

    Gets a 5/10 from me.

have Long Good Friday waiting to be watched, wonder if it'll be too violent for family company, dint realise it's an 18...
also the London Nobody Knows and Bicyclettes de Belsize, for more london filmage.

Very good film! Not terribly violent. A lot of implied violence though, and an explosion or 2.
    At least a 7.5-8/10

    Eh?

    5/10?

Fixed. Boring, pointless story.. if you can call it that. One of the few 'good' animations that didn't suck me in.

Laputa, Nausicaá, Princess Mononoke, Sword of the Stranger on the other hand - absolute bliss to watch. One or 2 cheesy moments in both Laputa and Nausicaá but I wouldnt score them any less than a 9 (maybe 8.5 for SotS though)
