The Exorcist is one of my all time favourite films. One of those moments where someone simultaneously creates, perfects, and destroys a genre. Spawned so many imitations, none of which came even remotely close. A bona fide masterpiece imo. RIP.

Also I saw Barbie the other day and it's a fucking masterpiece, absolutely great time, didn't hate the songs, great opening scene that you kinda forget about because it's all good, actual funny bits. Best film I've seen in ages.

I somehow missed 'The brand new testament' when it came out, but I gotta say, I loved it!😁

the red door. felt very much like they decided to just forgo a script in light of the writers strike and just do what they did in the other insidious shoots from memory.
weird side note relating to "the further" or whatever they call the other world in the film, when I was about 15/16 and used to drink on the top of the multi storey car park opposite basildon police station there was like a 3 week period where like 90% of my friends believed they could self-hypnotise themselves into something they called the zone by laying down with their eyes closed. they would then get up and run around excitedly regaling each other with the shit they were getting up to in this "upside-down"esque place which was apparently inhabited by other people who also knew how to do this in the local area and they were able to interact/fight said people and would come-to and say things like "we need to go and get this guy over in he tried to kill me". one particularly susceptible girl on some pretty hardcore meds who stalked one of my coworkers from the bowling alley even "got stuck" and my friends spent like 90 minutes trying to "wake" her up
it was like some weird peer pressured mass hysteria but for a few weekends I was subjected to having to sit quietly to the side drinking my 12 pack of cheap lager rapidly losing any semblance of respect I might have had for these people. my best mate who should have known better tried it and quietly confided in me later on how disappointed he'd been when he tried it and it hadn't worked despite me having watch him show his whole arse and embarass himself by joining in anyways. I pointed out that his experience was identical to all the others, they just didnt admit it.

Aye. So much fun. I showed my 6yo just the handshake between Butch and Dylan earlier this week and we’ve been doing it constantly. One of many movies I can’t wait to enjoy for the first time again when my kids are ready. Been meaning to give Prey a rewatch too. That was enjoyable.

If that helicopter had crashed, two future U.S. Governors would have died.

As I'm struggling to sleep at the moment I seem to end up watching films instead. Last night I watched 'Pretty red dress' and thought it handled the subject matter really well. Worth a watch.

I watched ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ last night, what a great film. It’s like a Chinese version of the Matrix and has a great story and even better cinematography. I didn’t recognise Jamie Lee Curtis either until my wife pointed her out.

I'm overdue a rewatch. Not seen it since it was in the cinema. Swiss Army Man by the same directors is worth a watch as well!

Picking a film to watch with my dad is never easy but Good Vibrations ticked three out of four boxes (old cars, music, war, planes). Funny with a great soundtrack, pretty sure he stayed awake through most of it.

I watched Dog Soldiers over the weekend, its been over a decade since I last saw it.
I love it still, the right mix of low budget, funny, practical affects and solid early 2000s cast. -

Yeah that one. Didn't know about Terri Hooley and don't know a great deal about the troubles but i thought it was fun without being flippant.

Watched it a few months ago, perfect hungover Sunday fodder. Your Planes reference was confusing me, I don't recall aerospace featuring much.

That was the box it didn't tick, if a Lancaster had flown through a shot it would have gotten 5 stars.

It was my birthday the other day so I treated myself to a rewatch of The Wicker Man. I love it more every time I watch it. Those corn rigs just get bonnier and bonnier. Definite top 5 film for me.

Watched Dune last night. Watched Dune tonight. Villeneuve followed by Lynch. Quite enjoyed both tbh. Villeneuve’s is obviously slicker and benefits hugely from not trying to cram everything into one film (which as Lynch demonstrates simply isn’t possible), but Lynch’s version has a weirdness that throws Villeneuve’s more sanitised vision into relief. Shame there isn’t a Jodorowsky version to watch tomorrow night.
RIP William Friedkin. The man had some absolute bangers under his belt.
