Strangely enough watched it for the first time last week. Stunning film, the robbery sequence is amazing. I'd read a lot about it, and it certainly lived up to the plaudits.

As a matter of interest, though most people say that Momento is a fantastic film, I preferred Irreversible, which was also told using reverse chronology. In fact, if one watches Irreversible after just having eaten a hearty meal, I fear then for their carpets. The swoopy camera work is sure to seriously affect one's internals. Who's seen both, and agrees/disagrees with me?

I disagree. I take Memento. All said and done, Irreversible has a straightforward conceit, but told in a fancy and superfluous way. Memento is not a straightforward conceit. Its plot is original, unlike Irreversible. The structure of Memento, told backwards, is also integral to the plot, again not like Irreversible.

On a side-note, glad to see Oldboy amongst your lists, but I wouldn't classify it as a 'drama', but that's being overly fussy.

Memento owns the first few times you watch it, not many movies like that for me.

Been getting through some forrin films recently:

• Mesrine Parts 1 and 2 - awesome
  
• L'Auberge Espagnole (dude spends Erasmus year in Barcelona) et Les Poupees Russes (same ppl, few years later) - both fun and entertaining and will appeal to anyone who has lived in other European cities as a student
  
• Cinema Paradiso - sublime
  
• Entre les Murs - life in an urban Paris school. Really good.

Cheers for that, I live film noir. Although an offshoot I keep meaning to watch Alphavile, neo noir set in the future, yet it lies on my hard drive. I'll get to it soon

Just got back from Black Swan..

Intense.

Mentally absolutely exhausting - but very very good. In a way I can honestly say I've never felt about an Aronofsky film. I didn't know what was happening half the time but left feeling very satisfied.

Mainly about Natalie Portman fapping for an hour and a half.
