  • Made a point of watching the midnight sky the night before last.

Bit underwhelming to be honest, ending was predicable and the story had large sections of nothing going on.

  • I also did sit down thinking of watching heat last night but I've decided to wait until I have a new TV to really make it a treat!

  • annual NYE watching of 200 Cigarettes in two hours.

every year i purchase it, every year i delete it, every year i purchase it and on and on.

    it's a tradition.

    other nye moofis?

  • Heat is fantastic, gets even better with repeated viewing as you know the story and can focus in on the incidental detail, the amazing dialogue etc.

Manhunter is also great, going to sound all up myself, but remember all the blue/grey light washing across me when I saw it on a big screen, must be best part of 30 years ago but remains an indelible memory

  • Manhunter soundtrack is lovely I think, very 80s synth vibe.

Movie is very stylish visually, very well shot and I remember the blue seeing it on the TV.

  • Heat is fantastic, gets even better with repeated viewing as you know the story and can focus in on the incidental detail, the amazing dialogue etc.

In my top ten for sure. Despite the long running time, it doesn't leave you much respite or room to breathe. There's always something going on, and even if there isn't, there's a tension between characters that's palpable. It reminds me a bit of Ronin, which is another favourite.

    Also, Ronin

  • I think I'll be having a Fred Ward marathon today, Remo and Tremors will start us off...

  • need to watch the 4K tremors

  • remo

    monkey steals the peach...

  • You should try Dinner For one then

  • I must’ve been the only person that didn’t enjoy 3 billboards. Thought it was a total stinker.

I also watched Tenenbaums a couple of nights ago. Absolutely love it.
It’s funny you mention the twee stuff - it’s exactly why I chose Tenenbaums over Grand Budapest (although I’ll probably give that another watch soon).

If you liked Tenenbaums, I reckon you’d enjoy The Meyerowitz Stories too, which is on Netflix. A bit straighter, but similar character focused story and dry humour.

  • Possessor: Mwah.

Some interesting moments but didn't like characters and they aren't very developed (a bit of a problem in antiviral too but I thought plot/ subtext ideas there were more interesting), fell flat for me.

Too bad as it's hard to find anything sci fi ish ATM.

  • Worth adding in Black Hat - not peak Mann but kept me engaged, looks great throughout and at least three great set pieces (none on a par with Heat but if you set the bar more appropriately a couple of top draw shoot outs)

  • Soul is good, isn't it.

    Graham Norton tho. RIP 4vr.

  • We loved Soul. Have shared our Disney+ login with my sisters so they and their kids could watch it too.

  • Enchanted, however, a 2007 Disney classic, and one of my favourite films, is nit available of Disney+

Fuck you, Disney+, imma purchase it from TPB.

  • The Hill is on iplayer at the moment. One of Sean Connery’s finest films.

  • all the blue/grey light

Dante Spinotti, so good. The scenes at the beach house still look great, similar to the balcony scene in Heat. If you've not seen it I really rate The Insider, many lighting gems.

Apparently a bit Marmite but Collateral looks ace as well IMO.

  • Remo

Jeez that's a blast from the past. Unarmed and Dangerous was the first 15 my mum let me watch.

    DVD or streaming?

  • Queen and Slim was a good way to end 2020. SpongeBob - Sponge out of water a good way to start 2021.

  • Trying to purchase but not enough seeds, annoying...

  • East Is East on All 4. Not seen it in years, brilliant. Funny and quite moving in places.

  • Just started watching The Town, few years since I've seen it, fookin Pete Postlethwaite, now there was an actor.

  • Spielberg reckons he's the best actor he worked with.

  • Pete Postlethwaite

    Absolute legend.

    Any excuse to post this
