  • I love jazz but hate musicals, La la land is one of these films that every seems to love because everyone else is loving it. It was so fuckin cliche and hollywood wins the day.

    Fuck that.

  • Sausage Party - 20 mins and off - trailer is all you need to see

  • It is TERRIBLE.

  • yup - the wurst

  • Agreed. I didn't last ten minutes.

  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople, brilliant. You can say pretty much anything in a Kiwi accent and it's funny, but this also has a great script. Loved it.

Watched Spectral last night as some mindless action switch-off, trailer looked ok and Netflix OG films are getting some serious budget, but WTF. How and why did most of the cast agree to being in it?! It's like a high-budget feature length MacGyver. "Don't worry, no-one has any idea what's going on but I'll just gaffer tape this to that and reverse the polarity and we'll be fine"

Just watched Sully. Got a soft-spot for Eastwood films, and Hanks. It's a great true story, the best stories are. Felt like it could have taken a bit of creative license and delved into the emotional side a bit more, but understand if Clint felt he had to honour Chesley's prescriptiveness of events

  • And dishonour the crash investigators by caricaturing them as aggressive, bloody minded fools? When in real life they are respected worldwide and do invaluable work but, no, they represent government so they must be bad. Eastwood is a Trump supporting libertarian ass hat.

  • I'm flummoxed by the positive reviews of wildernonsense.

    Anyway.

  • I find Mel Gibson another 'problematic' director. He's a fucking batshit racist but Apocalypto...

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • The war scenes in Hacksaw Ridge are just too brutal to watch.

T2 tonight, I can't remember being so excited to see a film in a long time, really hope it lives up to the hype

  • Watched The Warriors again. Never tire of that film. The driving sound track, the pace, the 70s, New York iconography.
    "Warriors ... Warriors"

  • Gimme Danger was great but seemed a bit low-budget to me... No complaints really, a little underwhelmed but it's Da Stooches!! What's not to love?

Arrival was pretty good, bit sappy towards the end but enjoyable... I kinda felt it could've been bigger than it was... Was expecting more but very watchable nonetheless...

  • Arrival was OK, but yeah, a little sappy. Dr Strange was alright although I wish I'd watched it in the cinema on mushrooms.

  • ^ did you purchase DS? decent quality?

saw in le cinema, thought it was ace and would like to watch again.

arrival was a load of toss.

  • Yes, yes I did... Just popped up and yeah, great quality apart from some subs... It hasn't shown in Brissy, I was left with no choice... I'll still go and see it when it finally gets a release here...

The more I think about Arrival the less it made any sense, shame, there was a really good film in there with a bit more work...

  • Dr Strange was already on mushrooms. You want to watch a visually bland film on mushrooms.
Going to watch Under the Skin again later... Hmm to shroom or not?

  • Dr Strange screener, so ok quality but not HD, perfectly watchable though.

  • If you haz shrooms then have shrooms.

  • ^Generally a good rule to have in life

  • I thought he meant Da Stooches, will have to try and purchase DS that tonight...

  • true, but ^ GD on purchase-u-lon as we speak as well.

  • And I'll try and purchase the other one.

    Crimes of Passion
I thoroughly enjoyed, reminder me a bit of Society (cos 80s, colourful, bit overegged and not subtle and also a comment on society?)

If you watch it as a bit mad OTT morality play and don't mind the cheese, it's great.

  • T2 delivered for me and the Mrs, great fun. Spud deserves a special mention, he's the star of the show, breaks your heart one minute and has you in fits the next. The legacy remains intact.

The trailers suggested John Wick 2 might be coming.
