Just heard from a mate that this is excellent.
It looks pretty dark, similar to Requiem For A Dream, if it's even a tenth as good as that it'll be awesome.

He also said there was lots of sex.

watched 20 mins, looks like an annoying immitation of sans soleil. It looks good, the naration/writing just annoys me. He's trying too hard and it annoys me he thinks it's working. Annoying.
"I google therefore I am... you you tube.." yeah I get the idea mate
Personally it just felt refreshing to watch a film that deals with the underwhelming topics of everyday life, as opposed to being filled with explosions and car chases. Obviously taste is subjective, but please don't let that sweeping statement prevent you from investigating his other films. Thanks for making me aware of 'sans soleil'.

I pretty much can't deal with the bullock.
Tonight's film is mysterious skin.
Also Iplayer has had some really good films on of late. Gommorah, enchanted and the shooting party for instance.

Just got back from 'Somewhere' at the Curzon in Soho. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
What I got from Somewhere was it's a massive guilt-fest on behalf of all the hedonistic, shallow lives in Hollywood. It said "we know we're pathetic and wouldn't last a week in the real world but if we can acknowledge that can't you sympathize with us?"
I thoroughly enjoyed it, I much prefer slow movies and awkwardness is interesting. -

I liked it, in a brain out, free movie with free popcorn sort of way. But then I have a thing for ann hathawat and jake gillen hall.
Just seen The Big Sleep. Bogart and Bacall being ubercool.
Maybe time to watch casablanca.
just watched "Zombieland" better than expected, and have a good laugh
Its a great movie. Funny and entertaining.
He also said there was lots of sex.

127 Hours is out on Friday
Anyone excited about that?
-
• #1320
yep ^^
Boyle,
studied the case whilst at Uni doing Aventure recreation,
lucky he had a camera and could film it for us when it was happening, very conteporary, very information age -
• #1321
'for us'?
-
• #1322
what i mean is that Ralston did take stills, and film the 5 days there at the time--
not sure if Boyle used any of it in the film though...
I like dissecting the whole 'social construction' of adventure (geek) -

Chris Morris was there. Just had to gratuitously namedrop that, but he's a hero of mine.
