And to the mods - apologies for the thread duplication disaster.

first long ride yesterday in new MTB Eagle 6 - hot spots at about 30 miles at the front of both feet, the bit before the toes, alongside the ball of the foot. generally I under-pronate (walk on the outside of feet and don't put much weight on balls of feet). suggestions, or suggestions of where to get advice? Condor?

Set your cleat back to start with perhaps?
-
• #930
cleat positioning is a mystery to me - how does one work it out?
-
• #931
Hope this help;
In essence, cleat positioning is really about positioning your foot in relation to the pedal: “The pedal axle should be 5-7mm behind the ball of your foot,” says Wall. “You can find the ball – which is at your first big toe joint – by putting your thumb on the side of your shoe and wiggling your toes. Mark that point with a piece of white tape on the outside of the shoe, and put the centre of the cleat 5-7mm behind that point.”

^I used to own a pair of those shoes.

cheers ed. moved the cleats back a touch, and rotated. sidis are such a funny shape it's hard to tell what's straight. was getting some pain behind left knee, I think because I was pigeon-toed.
just went and bought specializzzed footbeds. p'raps not the best but they have them in Condor and I was in there. the chap was hugely sceptical of my wide feet in sidis, reasonably enough, but hey I have them now, might as well try and make them comfy. surprisingly the heat/pressure test thing said I had medium arch, whereas I'd always considered I had rather flat feet. will give them a go.
I am absolutely none the wiser about this adjustable heel-cup business though. I have the instructions. I don't feel any difference.

so, the footbeds feel nice... but have now made my shoes half a size too small :(
all the straps are maxed out. arseballs. -
• #935
yep. I've come to the unfortunate/foolish conclusion that if I want to wear Sidis, I really need a Mega 43 with low support footbed, as opposed to a regular 42 with medium support. fucksticks. all this in the name of replaceable sole bits. and glittery shoes.

I have 43 megas you can try with your footbeds
-
• #937
ooh, awesome. I'd like that. were they hard to get hold of?
-
• #938
Hard to get hold of in shops, easy online.
Don't tend to be as reduced as normal sidis also :( -
• #939
Sounds similar to me, although I've already got 43 Mega SIDIs. When I used the Specialized heat-reactive foot matt thing, I was definitely a ++ type foot, but there just wasn't room for my foot and the footbed in my SIDIs. At the bike fitting I had a + footbed put in instead, which is much better. Still not perfect, but better.

condor have some mega dominator (5?)s on sale - size 47 (I think UK 11), 49 (13), 52 (no idea) and some smaller pairs. I think they were £125 or something down from £190. I have not researched online if this is a good deal, just letting you all know...

Anyone got the Ergo 3 slippers? I've got my eye on some Speedplay Specific Liquigas Ergo 3's but I'm interested in how the arch profile is. I've got v low arches and want some advice before I lay my money down.
Also I will need some high quality black aero shoe covers. I cannot deal with white and lime green shoes...

Whats the cheapest MTB shoe sidi offer? I am after a 44 as cheap as possible for touring as I don't want to break the bank anymore than I have.
-
• #946
The SIDI Giau is the cheapest MTB shoe I've seen from them. It's the MTB equivalent of the Zephyr - three Velcro straps, no buckles, no wires.
-
• #947
I had a pair of Sidis similar to Giau and i managed to rip the whole bottom of them, so maybe not the best quality.
-
• #948
If they're just for touring and you won't use them very often, i would get some cheap spealized/shimano to be honest.

Or even clip and strap = one less shoes to worry about.

If he's going on a tandem with a partner who isn't as used to cycling, he'll want the extra power transfer.
Just try them on. Find a shop that stocks the half sizes. My genius 5's have been holding up very well. The heel pads wear out quite quick but they are replaceable and cheap.
