In my road sidis I use the specialized footbeds, not custom , reasonably cheap and very comfy.

Ta Ed, will investigate.
If cycling custom footbeds are anything like skiing ones, then they can't be worth the money.. all they do is do replicate the bedding in you get after 3-4 days of use.I imagine I'm about to get my arse handed to me for saying that by all the 'proper' cyclists here :)

Got insole out of some Nike skate shoes in mine. Zoom Air Sidi FTW.
I'm probably going to replace them for summer (they are near death) with some of the Shimano RT series road touring shoes that take recessed MTB cleats and have a sole you can walk on but can be had for £50-70. Can use overshoes etc. designed for roadies instead of the usually bulkier MTB versions too

much better use of sidis?
what on earth is it?
some form of flippers?"Biomimetics" - it's a flipper designed to mimic the way a dolphin swims.

SIDI or Shimano - discuss
Is it worth paying that bit more for SIDI over Shimano road shoes?
I am torn between the Shimano R132
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Shimano_R132_Road_Cycling_Shoes/5360039441/
and the SIDI Genius 5.5CC
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Sidi_Genius_55_CC_Road_Cycling_Shoes/5360045632/
I am currently using Specialized MTB shoes on my road bike and suffering bad cramping and tightness across the foot after 15 or so miles

in my case yes, I have narrow feet and the Shimano options are too wide for me. Narrow Sidi for * :-/ expensive...
As stated earlier in the thread - get thee to a foot place (cyclesurgery/condor) and get fitted properly.

Anyone know when the new range is out?
I'm having trouble finding a pair of 45.5 megas :(
-
• #336
Anyone spotted cheap Dominators recently? I'd like a new pair and can't find them for less than £153 at Winstanleys.

hey, i just stuck on an old, cut up motorbike tyre to my eagles to save £40 odd quit buying the soft as butter grip replacements by Sidi. Cost me £5.50 for the glue.. that's it !
So far so good. Much better than the original grip installation. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

oh, the insoles rather than the outsoles. sorry, 2 questiuons
-
• #345
ha, sorry buddy
i prefer to remove the insoles altogether.
i like it hard -
• #346
mine are too big... i need to coosh them up a bit.
-
• #347
Hello ... I'd go for the Specialized footbeds, much cooshness. I did this a while back, made a big difference, though they do fill up the space inside the shoe quite a bit in comparison with the Sidi insoles, so be warned if your shoes fit snug just now that they may not be the answer.

Thanks eardley... I shall try them. On sale at Evans now too

Looks a bit shabby, but no one can see it anyway can they. Chopped up a motorbike tyre i got for free from the local garage.
only hard thing is cutting it to shape, the carcass (the bit the rubber sits on) is really quite difficult to cut to shape, but i found a pair of good leverage scissors do the job.
also i stuck the whole rubber over the screws in some places, with a recessed hole in the rubber (using a big drill bit and a drill) to stop it sticking up.
Impact glue, having left to become very sticky works really well.
I then used some super glue to stick any remaining edges in place that didn't stick after being left under the sofa to compress overnight. -

Nice one Dylan. Could I use some of your tyre by any chance? Haven't seen you in ages pal. Good excuse to see ya ;-)
hmm.. I've not experienced that yet. But am seriously considering getting some other insoles as I really don't think the standard ones are very good— even if they didn't move around all over the place
