  • was just wondering if there worth it

    They are.

Depends if the last fits your feet. It's not worth bothering with a brand if their fundamental shape is incompatible with you.

    And this.

  • What I forgot to mention is that ALL teh cool kidz rock the Specialized Sonoma.

    Oh yeh.

  • my eagles have a small port hole in the bottom of it to allow water drainage.....

if you want your feet to be dry, buy Sealskins long ankle socks... only way really.

Guess thats why they make the mega variation too??

That makes them wider, but doesn't change the basic shape of the last. Some shoes have more of a curve along the length; some are flatter on the sole; some secure higher up the arch; etc.

Can't really tell till you've tried on a pair or two. I was considering some high-end Specialized jobbies recently, and after trying them on, thought they were "yeah, quite nice, seem pretty comfortable, blah, blah".

Then I tried on some Mavics: "wow, these are so much more comfortable on my feet (fiddle with buckle absent-mindedly), got more of that 'slipper' feel like Sidis (more absent-minded buckle fiddling)."

Bought the Mavics. Rode for a few hundred miles. Hotspot where buckle/strap pushed against my instep irritated the fuck out of me.

Reverted to past favourite shoe: Sidis. And relax.

    I have a Sidi foot.

  • Okay bit off topic but I got a pair of these used for buttons and they are superb provided you dont use them for MTB which is what they were designed for. as a town shoe they are the best pair ive owned. Carbon sole is stiff, easy ratchet, light, comfy, and cleats only £5.

  • I had the Specialised S-Works MTB shoes, and the S-Works road shoes.

At the heel where the sole joins the rest of the shoe the glue joint failed on both pairs of shoes.

I had both pairs warrenteed and replaced them with Dragons and Ergo II's, which are hugely more comfortable and much better constructed.

I wear a £19.99 pair of waterproof Endura overshoes at the moment, come summer I will be glad of the mesh.

true, mine is looking a bit crappy.

  • Christ, I'd decided on the Eagles, now I see there's two types of Eagles...

I think they need to simplify their product line-up.

  • It's the 2009 and 2010 product lines, hence why many of the shoes on the first link are 'discontinued and no longer available'.

Cold morning out in Norfolk, Sparky? :p

  • Don't know - worked all weekend, got today off. Not even out of bed yet. Going to stay here for one or more episodes of Shameless, spend these Wiggle vouchers (if I can figure out which bloody Sidis to get) and then try, maybe, attempt, possibly to get up and out of the house...

  • Don't overdo it now.

  • big goals. big dreams. big feet? no sidis.

  • I tried a size up from that which I normally wear and they were massive.

Ended up with 44's which is a British 9.5, otherwise known as what I normally wear.

I don't have very big feet I will admit however

  • All ordered. Looking forward to getting them. Just popped my DHBs in the wash after a MTB trip to Derbyshire, and they're not looking too good. Had them well over two years though, been great.

  • Am using Specialized mtb BG at the moment which i really like. Everyone raves about the dominators, was just wondering if there worth it

FWIW I have the Specialized Body Geo mtb shoes, and Sidi Genius. I find Spec more comfortable, which is probably owing to my wide-ish feet, despite having the 'mega' size in Sidi. I also use the spec inner soles in the sidis, as the stock Sidi insoles are thin and hard. The Sidis seem to dump more pressure on the balls of my feet rather then spreading it out, possibly owing to that slight curve toward the toes in the sole of the shoe.

  • Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions as to the best stockist of sidi's, particularly Dominators.... I was thinking of either Condor or Brixton cycles, but would be grateful for your thoughts

  • Support your LBS, as long as the service isn't abysmal. I bought from Wiggle...

  • i would not recommend the replaceable soles, they wear at so damn fast.

  • i would not recommend the replaceable soles, they wear at so damn fast.

+1 they are crap with capital C

  • you know it. biggest con ever, fuck sidi.

  • yup, i have replaced my soles 3 times at a cost of 40 quid per go.
have recently got a cobbler to cobble up (is that a word?? sounds dirty :)
some, the heels are great, but the rest are no good for long

if you really want sidi's, get the dominators.

even the dragons use the "crappy rubber replaceable sole system" CRRSS

  • i would not recommend the replaceable soles, they wear at so damn fast.

    -1

    Stop scuffing your feet, fucktards.

  • I wouldn't mind as much, as long as there was a bigger market for replacement soles, and some third party was making them for £5 a go. But no, obviously SIDI have the monopoly on them, so can charge whatever they want. Crap crap crap. They make them so soft, you're forced to replace them within months of normal use. I would 10x rather buy some £20 SPD shoes off ebay, and the soles last for years and years, with the cleat not protruding after a few months.

  • twat.

  • Well, I've got about 36 months of 'normal use' out of my Eagle soles so far, and I'd guess at least another 24 to go - at which point, the shoes won't be scrap.

So in conclusion, evolutionary challenged scuffers are better off avoiding replaceable soles, and should probably invest in some kevlar-reinforced gloves to protect their knuckles.
