Shimano new heat mouldable line are great. Can't help but give props. Anti-bacterial liner. Heat mouldable in-sole and shoe, arch support. Ventilation. They have upped their game. Carbon soles.
Felt better than other shoes on market. I may only consider Bont Track shoes if that's all they will be used for.
For street riding shimano m240 or m315
Track shoes Bont is the winner but those arches look shit for my feet. Probably would need an insole as well. But can't hate Bont it's quality bar none.

Really? I didn't think much of bont build quality against sidi. Night and day. The shimano for me just didn't look good enough but guess it should be more about function than form.

Can't stop repping Shimano they impressed the lycra off me.

Need some proper insoles (Sidi ones are shite) for my road shoes, what are people using?

I got Spesh BG beds or even the regular shimano footbeds from my commute shoes are better.
Even a piece of cardboard would be better than sidi's beds.

These are the bits that actually take the weight of the shoe/your power on the pedal - the cleat and 'locking system' do just that - hold the pedals in place, but they don't take the weight/power.
If those red bits get worn they won't reach the flats properly, and your shoe can rock about. Scheritt was able to rock mine side to side to quite a scary degree. The rubber/plastic bits didn't reach the flats.
If those bits are worn out your shoes are not sitting properly on the pedal and aside from reduced power transfer there are potentially other issues - I went to him because I fucked my knee riding a 300 audax fixed but this could have been a contributory factor.
Huge thanks to @Fox for pointing this out. I have a pair of well loved Dominators that are now obviously well past their shelf life. My knee problems from my recent jaunt to the Isle of Wight are almost certainly cause by the large amount of float I had - I had attributed it to cleat positioning and the old shitty pedals on my Allez, not the worn sections.
Straight I went to Wiggle to grab me some Sidi Eagles (with replaceable soles) that were recommended, however I should warn people that the Eagles 5s don't come with replaceable soles, only the Eagle 6s.
The difference between Dominators and Eagles 5 is that the Eagles have a larger proportion of mesh/fabric compared to the almost all Lorica Dominators. (Basically a winter/summer variant of the same shoe).
Hope you guys don't make the same mistake as me! Ended up getting a pair of Carbon Dragons from sport Pursuit for only £50 more anyway...

^im trying to understand how those parts could wear so much. If I understand correctly there would be that sort of platform using any mtb shoes with spd as they would all have raised tread which would be the 'platform' that fox mentions as sitting on the sides of the locking mechanism on the pedal. Having a look at my shimano rt81s they also have raised tread each side of the cleat and I assume this would sit on the pedal aside the locking mechanism. I have worn these for nearly 2 years now and there is still hardly any wear to the sole where it would rest on the pedal.
Perhaps its simply the type of rubber used but could it be something else?

I bought my Dominators in August 2012, and pretty much used them every day. Compound will also make a big difference I'm sure!
This is what mine look like:

I think im simply in denial...

Yes it definitely may have something to do with the compound used. This is mine after nearly 2 years of use.

If you can stretch to the Eagles, this part of the shoe can be replaced. I notice you're looking at the 2014 Dominators, you might be able to get 2013 Eagles cheaper than the 2014 versions.
Frustratingly, I can only get the Mega sizes in Dominators*, and nothing else.
*would prefer MTB cleat.

Used my genius 5s today. The change to them plus Keo 2 Max from ATACs and MTB shoes is huuuge. Much faster acceleration and climbing.

Right so who wants my Dominators? Size 43.5. Bought off Hovis last week. Worn twice but not right for my feet. Think I need to accept my feet are not made for Sidis.
Anyone have any Sidi Mega in 43 I could try on as a last resort?

I have these:
Sidi Energy 2 shoes, which are about 4 years old now. When pedalling, I get a rattling sound once per revolution.I haven't changed the cleats (SPD-SL) in a couple of years now and have no need to for the time being. Any idea what the source of the sound is? Cleat interface?

• #1224
havent changed cleats in couple of years !!? Low milage I presume

I have 43 megas you can try. Though I'm quite annoyed with my dominators as the Base is separating after less than two years of fixxie skidding
Yeah, think I was looking at the wrong silver bits.
