In another new low from the scrotes, a friend of mine had her seat nicked - with the thief SAWING through the seatpost as close as possible to the seat tube. FFS.
I should add that the seatpost had a quick release as well. Jeezuz. I'd be inclined to think vandalism combined with stupidity.
So surreal it almost sounds like nicking fiction. :)

the current rash of component theft is making me anxious...
also, I feel worse when bikes like that^^^ get stolen than something obviously flashy. it's clearly a well-used, decent, everyday sort of bike :(

First post due to getting a kick in the ass to finally getting a fixed. My 2011 Cannondale Bad Boy was nicked outside East Ham Leisure Centre a couple of days ago. Right outside the front door next to the reception desk! Thought I'd have a shot at posting here about it, as well as checking the usual places. Blessing in disguise I guess though, now I've got a great excuse to picking up a fixed :)

Went to go look at a Specialized Langster off of GumTree last night:
http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/specialized-langster-single-speed-2011/101541708I may be completely wrong but it seemed a little dodgy. I asked to meet the bloke somewhere easy for us both to get to so he said head towards shoreditch and give him a ring. Anyway, I ended up at his flat block without being mugged, raped or pillaged so I gave him another call, a little pissed off. He said he would be down in a minute which ended up being more like 15. The bike was not like he described. It looked old and a bit more hagard than his "Excellent condition" description.
He seems to have put the same bike up again yesterday with the same photo but for £10 more.
So if anyone has lost a Langster 2011 which has been used a bit (i.e. there is wear on the grip tape and the chain is getting a little old) go check this one out.
Again, it could just be me being sceptical but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Someone on Endura's MTB team had 11 MTB/road/cross bikes and a Kawasaki Ninja nicked from a locked alarmed building on Saturday night in Cardiff. Sounds like a pro/targetted job.

There are quite a few such thefts from pro teams, are there not?
It's not nice to think that they've probably already split them up into components. :(

Why do people leave their bikes unlocked/unattended? Madness!
-
• #8321
Well, his face comes out quite clearly in that video, so let's hope it can count as evidence.
He seems to behave suspiciously from the start and is clearly there to steal a bike, and not just an opportunist, although getting an unlocked bike is of course an opportunist act. Perhaps he had tools in his backpack, too.

• #8322
Yeah, he's clearly sussed that LMNH is a potential spot for thievage - I like the way he had a helmet on his bag too. Props?

• #8323
Yes.

That guy leaves this bike unlocked for over 4 minutes. Madness.

That sucks for him, if it's real, but I have no sympathy.
