I know people like to know how bikes are locked when they get nicked. She had it locked with a Kryptonite D (grey one) through the frame and rear wheel and a cable through the front
Was it locked to one of the bike racks too? Just wondering how it was taken even with such a good lock.

Is that the lock he was using?
that's the lock he uses for his helmet. That said, his main one wasn't much better which is why it got snipped. Quite scarey inside actually, it was made up of 5 groups of what looked like brake cables with loads of room inbetween.

Yep. Rumour has it someone has stolen a pair of bolt cutters from Aldgate Fire Station and nicking bikes in the London Bridge area.

Where was it stolen from, you never left that locked up outside out of sight did you?
-
• #7385
not mine. just helping someone out. not sure exactly where it was locked up but he said it's one of the racks near the station out on the street. it was out of sight for about an hr

oof - mention it to the guys at Putney Cycles and velosport just in case some mug takes it in
[they have had someone wander in trying to sell a nicked bike without realising it was one of the staffs rides, shutters were dropped and an 'arrangement' was made for return of the bike]

Sometime between 11pm last night and 7am this morning, some scumbags managed to get into the communal area behind my flat and took all of the bikes they could from the bike-sheds in the 'secure' yard area at the back. This includes my own beloved Brian Rourke which has been safely carrying me around London for 4 years now.
531 steel bright orange fixed gear, with chop-and-flop bars, blue bar tape, dirty harry bmx brake levers, blue velocity deep-v on the back and a mavic kysrium on the front. Built up with campag headset and BB, and egg-beater pedals (the drive side one is stuck, so I hope that the theives rag their knuckles something terrible trying to get that off).
Here's a picture of the bike during happier times in LFGSS's very own BTOTB:
If you do see it (and let's be honest, there aren't many BR framesets with this kind of 'distinctive' colour), please clothesline whichever fucker is riding it and I will reward you handsomely

One can only hope that the Dogma was insured for being locked up outside, unattended. That is a bitter, bitter blow.

I live on Lynton Road in Bermondsey - I think there are a few forumgers who live in the area so be careful with those bikes...

There does seem to be a spike in bike thefts around Bermondsey and Greenwich at the moment.

Hi, I bought my tout terrain - v rare in the uk- Via veneto from bikefix. This morning sunday was out for an hour- bike plus abus lock plus plant lock with 100kg soil (!) were removed from my front garden- I think into a van.
Please let me know if you see this bike anywhere around it's frame is a dark olive, bungey cord on the rack. Has anyone heard of plantlocks being removed like this?
Yes, I believe Look Mum No Hands had at least one stolen in this way over Christmas last year. Plant locks aren't actually that heavy in the big scheme of things, I wouldn't trust them personally. Two hefty blokes can shift one fairly easily - on their website it says they weigh c.75kg loaded up, that's only 32.5kg each.
I would also never, however well secured, leave a bike regularly locked outside in public view/in a publicly accessible space such as a front garden. But I guess you found this out the hard way :(

By a random twist of fate, my girlfriend decided not to stay round so her bike wasn't there to be stolen, and I ended up doing some work on my new bike so that was up in my flat meaning that only 1 of the 3 bikes that would have been there was actually in it's usual stables.
Annoyingly I was about to sell my BR and cleaned it up on Sunday in prep for taking some pictures during the week...but never quite got round to it

Anyone lost a red Create single speed? There's one not locked up outside my block of flats in the E&C.

• #7398
anyone lost a Nelson Pista recently? A couple of days ago I saw one propped unlocked outside a shop on Essex Road. Either it's nicked or someone really doesn't like their bike.

I recognise that BR from the bike tag thread. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Keep an eye on bikeshd.co.uk and set up some saved searches on ebay*

Trek Allant 20" black hybrid stolen from a schoolyard in Fulham this afternoon, some time after 2pm. Anyone sees it, belongs to my wife. Bastards.
Also, can anyone remind me of the address of that website that aggregates stolen bikes?
