ninjor bike thief?
Could have been a neighbour who saw you put it away, or someone at the party who passed on the info to his scally mate?
Up in cumbria last few years there has been a couple driving around in various cars (some were found out to be rentals) deliberately knocking riders off on quieter back roads, then offering to take them to hospital, whoops, no space in the car for bike, lets put it behind 'this' hedge, take rider to hospital, then go and take the bike. Happened probably 10 times (that I've heard of) in 3-4years now, description is always the same couple.
God - if it had been a party I wouldn't have been there with my racer.. just me, one of my oldest mates, and my girlfriend. My mate's not left his house the whole weekend for fear of a break-in and my girlfriend offered to split the cost of an identical replacement.
Kingston is scallyville.. not going to be stopping there on a bike again

I'm posting this in the Edinburgh forum too, but I think more people possibly read this, apologies if unrelated!
My friend Ross just had his bike stolen from inside the building at work. They knicked the money from the till too, but we're more concerned by the bike. It's pretty distinctive, as he built it himself, so hopefully we might have some luck recovering it.
It's a Cinelli Vigorelli frame, I've not seen another in Edinburgh. I don't have a recent photo, but there is one in the Facebook group he's created:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_227188157293725Saw this on kickback (plus the inevitable "bike for sale" thread...) Good luck.

Police are going to call me back with a plan of action in 5. Cheeky cunt is just down the road from my office - cant just bowl down there though.. who knows what could happen. Hopefully someone's available (plainclothes) with 10 minutes spare to go and nab it.
Reckon Ive got an hour or 2 before it's untraceable

make sure you have all the papers in order to prove it's yours. also I would take this down from here in case the seller checks this thread.

Given the amount of apathy that the police seem to display for stolen bikes I don't like your chances but will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Am assuming then that you have all of the right documentation to prove you bought the bike?
If all else fails there is a picture in the top left hand corner of the photo. With a bit of zoom/enhance style action you could kidnap the guys family and hold them to ransom for your bike!
[must learn to separate fantasy from reality].

rozzers got back to you yet?
Still on the phone - said they've upped it to urgent and are transferring jurisduction for the crime to the other necessary police station. Looks like there could be a happy ending. Finger toes and legs crossed!

So I've responded to the gumtree add.
me: Hi, I'm looking to get my road bike. I'm 5'9", do you think this bike would be too big for me?
Charlie O'Connell: hi there thanks for your reply. yes im (sic) 5'9 and it suit (sic) my capability. thats (sick!) seat fully lowered.

I've never really looked on gumtree for bikes before, there appears to be an awful lot of "bargains" on there that are offered for sale by people who don't really know what they are selling. Finding it a touch depressing.
I would burst in to tears of rage and frustration but can't keep worrying worry about what's already happened (+ week was a lot better than I thought in the end) - replaced with a Fuji Team 1.0, very happy AND this time I've insured it straight away B-)
