Hi All,
Been lurking around here for while and this is my first post. Sadly it's because my bike was stolen last night.
It was stolen from the rear of flat in Highbury and Islington. It was locked up using my Kyrpton D-lock which i've had for about 10years (stupidly not locked to anything) at the back of my flat which is gated. Along with my bike it looks like they cleared all of the other residents bikes as well.
It's a orange "Carlton Ten" fixed gear bike. It has a black San Marco seat and orange grips.

It's not worth much but If anyone see's it then I would be most appreciative if you would let me know as I am now bike less. Getting the tube this morning to work totally sucked!!
Thanks

That is a shame, Chris. Unfortunately, a big target of thieves has been communal cycle storage, which in many new developments is poorly-designed (developers just cramming it in anywhere, without thinking about crime) and poorly-managed (any communal facility needs a caretaker of sorts to look after it). I take it you've seen the 'What to do if your bike is stolen?' thread?

Got this e-mail from Fausto, who is on here, and works for CTUK
Last night some folk jumped over my back fence and stole a couple of bikes.
One was a grey GT hybrid that was worth nothing in either monetary or sentimental value. I bought it off a scrap metal dealer for £13. It retails new for about £300.
The other was my magenta/red/pink polo bike, which used to be my fixed gear bike.
It has a silly low gear (22/17 perhaps), a double chain ring (despite being single speed) but with a chain wrapped around the whole of the outer chain ring (so no sharp teeth are exposed). It has a short black riser bar, "KF" brand (fishers own) dual pivot caliper brakes with Shimano levers and Ernest's old Fizik saddle. The wheels were Quando hubs on "Mirage" rims and were laced 4 cross. Frame was Columbus tubing and had quite a lot of imperfections that i would recognise in an instant.
Anyway, if someone sees something like this then they can probably buy it back for about £10, even though it is worth much more to my dear sentimental heart - it was the first frame I even stripped, sprayed and re-built. It should have gone into the museum they'll open for my life one day.....
Hopefully he may be along later to post pictures

THIS WAS STOLEN FROM NEW CROSS LAST NIGHT! COULD Y'ALL KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR IT? IT'S UNIQUE AND SET UP WITH VELOCITY AEROHEAD FRONT WHEEL, WHITE TYRE, GOLDTEC HUB AND MAVIC ON THE REAR. YOU CAN'T MISS IT - COMPLETELY UNIQUE, WITH 'NORTHWEST MOUNTAIN BIKE CENTRE' AND 'KEVIN CLARK' WRITTEN ON THE FRAME.

So many bikes getting stolen...it's so shit.
Mine went a few weeks ago ( https://www.lfgss.com/post2088871-5953.html ) and so sign of it since.....BUT at least my insurance company are paying up the full cost of replacement (less £100 excess) - which I was worried about as it was a custom frame with expensive components......big up to M+S home insurance!

Hi All,
I just found this thread, had posted in classifieds before!
My bike was stolen on Monday night outta my back garden in New Cross, SE14, its fairly unique in that it says 'kevin clark' across the top tube, in the paintjob, it also has 'northwest mountain bike centre, emblazoned across it in neon yellow paint. It means a lot to me, and I really want it back, so if anyone sees it anywhere, could you shout me on here/ on 07830120301 or sebastianredford@hotmail.com? I'll be at brick lane on saturday loking out for it, but being so unique, I thought there might be a chance someone would see it around. It's got white BLB risers, a velocity aerohead on the front and a mavic/goldtec set up on the rear. Thanks in advance to anyone who sees it! image here: http://yfrog.com/gyrdjgjj

It means a lot to me this bike, as i'm sure you all understand.
it's set up with Miche primato cranks, a velocity aerhead with radial spokes ont he front, and a mavic rim with goldtec hub on the back. Literally JUST put new tires and BLB white risers on for summer too.

Hey All,
As above, I'm just getting used to the forums (and regularly go to sleep dreaming about Bjorns 'nago: http://www.lfgss.com/thread64924.html#post2140883)
Had my bike stolen from Farringdon on Monday after a great weekend of riding in Dorset http://twitpic.com/4vnduk if anyone see's it, Iet me know. I was still using it :S
In a similar vein, saw this on Gumtree and looks too good for the price. I've just spoken to the guy and seemed a little 'foggy' on details. I arranged to go look at it at 6 this evening. Any recommendations on checking if it's stolen? Does anyone recognise it. Red Peugeot track bike.

jimmysav: Was it locked with the lock in the picture?
-
• #6268
HatBeard, locked with a raleigh combination lock. I think they must have just got through with bolt crops It seemed decently hefty for locking during day time, but I was obviously pretty naive about boldness of thieves at 4pm. Consider that lesson learned. The worst part is a woman at my studio saw them doing it and shouted that a bike was getting nicked outside, I had head phones in so didn't hear and she didn't know it was mine.
Jogger, similar weight raleigh one. Clearly not heavy enough. Kryptonite from here on out.
OGNIKI, I'll take that to mean definitely shady?
-
• #6269
OGNIKI, I asked him the size of the bike and he said large, when pressed he said he didn't know the measurements. So asked if it fitted him and he said he didn't know as he buys and sells bikes. He would probably know some numbers if he really buys and sells bike. Will skip this one I think.

Cheers Tiswas, realise that now. That list is pretty impressive.

Cheers for the info dude, will keep an eye peeled for your bike!
Any markings/panto on the frame? -

My dads yellow and black brompton s was stolen outside Woods (?) Butchers on Liverpool Road, Angle.
Theres not much more I can say. I'm fucking gutted. He always wanted one, I always wanted to buy him one as a present and never thought id be able to afford one for him. The. Thanks to a tip off from this forum managed to pick on up cheap.
I'm on holiday and just had a voicemail. It sounds like he left it unlocked outside the butchers and someone just took it while he was in there. TBJH I'm almost as pissed at him as the thief for being so fucking stupid. I'm guessing he can't claim on the household insurance unless he's specifically added it, right?
There is absolutely nothing distinguishing about it. It might still have the acton bike sticker on it, but other than that it's standard.
If anyon sees anything or any adds pls let me know.

A mate posted this on FB at 12ish:
Ok, just had my bike knicked on Brixton Hill outside the post office. Entirely matt black Fit Aitken, Wombolts, Slam bars, odyssey rims and mostly Odyssey parts actually... If you're around Brixton, Stockwell, wherever.. keep your eyes out for it. CCTV caught dude stealing it, guy was wearing a bobble hat..
I've told him to come along here and post, but I guess he's in the nursery for the moment.
