  • My friend had his bike stolen from whitechapel. A group of teens approched him with not very good intentions. He was punched and kicked and they took the bike. He is fine.
I built the bike for him just two months ago!!
    here is a pic.
Lovely frame, really really a shame....

  • oops the picture it's here now.

  • very nice bike, where was he mugged? Did they report it?

  • Yes, he called the police, and they took him in the car and drove him around the area searching for the bike and the guys, but no luck

  • Nasty, poor fella!
Can you be any more specific as to where the attack took place? Any description of the muggers?
I'll keep an eye out for the bike.

  • That is shocking hope your mate is not too badly hurt!

  • Thanks guys.
My friend is ok, is more the humiliation than the physical harm.
He was around Whitechapel hospital, where he lives, on Thursday night when 3 guys approached him and took his bike, when he ran after them and turned the corner 7 more teens were there. Only one of them was actually violent. The guy who took the bike disappeared and my friend managed to get home physically ok.
To be honest, i don't think they were after the bike, it was just an easy target…

  • This thread depresses the hell out of me.

  • doesn't sound like these 'humans' will be up early. Let's get it back!
(though I work nowhere near this, so, youlot have to go. I'm there in spirit.)

my mate spotted this bike left in a back garden that his flat overlooks (Clapton). Will try and post a better photo later if the bike is still there. Apparently some sketchy kids live there and it's very likely stolen. Let me know if you recognise it.

+1. Having to lug locks around which weigh three times what the bike does is one thing, but having to be on guard every time you stop at lights etc. kinda takes the fun out of it :-(

  • Had my Langster stolen at Old Street roundabout, 13:15 on sunny Thursday.
Is there any point in reg with the police ?

    has anyone used this?

  • This is my first time posting a new thread, and yes my bike is gone gone gone!

I live in the flat which has a quite big metal gate outside the building, and I normally lock my bike on the post under the staircase, and that is the usual place where other neighbors lock theirs too.
Got home around 23:30 on last Saturday night then left the bike at same place and done the same as usual. Next morning I got out of my flat 9ish to get to work by cycling, but hell no had to take the bus cuz my bike and lock were gone.
Fortunately, there is CCTV near the gate so my landlord helped me to go through the recorded video.

This weird guy wearing grayish sweatshirt turned up in front of the gate, climbed over with no hesitation. Out of the sight for about few mins (maybe to check around the area?) back on the monitor,he looked at the CCTV directly for few secs, then he opened the gate, walked out, and was bloody kind enough to close the gate after! Came back after about 5mins, but this time wearing a baseball cap which proves he lives near around here. Climbed over the gate again took 10mins to nick my bike and rode away.
I couldn't really get to see how he looked like –defo teenager or early 20s thoguh– since it happened half past two in the morning and the CCTV was too dark.

It was a bit of shock to my landlord since he thought the gate was high enough so no one could climb but this thief proved he was wrong I guess. Police came and took the recorded one on the CD. Hopefully this fucking theif won't come back for another bike, and yeah watch out if you live around Temple street, Hackney Road.

  • Good report and an interesting case. There are a lot of thefts from residential property at the moment, largely owing to bad cycle parking arrangements there, as in your case. I hope the CCTV is of some use. It isn't always. A friend of mine had her bike stolen from outside the Brunei Gallery some years ago. She watched the CCTV recording at the police station. The evidently not very competent thief took a long time to steal her bike (I can't remember how long exactly), as people were walking past on a busy day. Then he rode off with it. Of course, his face wasn't discernible on the recording and the police couldn't do a great deal.

Good luck with getting it back--read the Stolen Bikes thread for tips. It's long but has a lot of info in it. (More people would see this if you put it into the Stolen Bikes thread--PM hippy to merge it.)

  • just caught some cunt playing with my front door lock, no idea whether he was just a drunk or was trying to break in, but the light in my front room sis on and after about 30 seconds realising it wasnt my upstairs neighbour as they werent having any luck with the lock, i went to have a look.

black dude (racist) standing there casual as a daisy smoking away turned round and looked at me in the window, looked a bit confused and walked off. not really sure whether to call the cops or not.

  • Thanks for the tip Oliver. I have PMd hippy to merge the thread, and am reading the Stolen Bikes thread now.

Had the same thing. When I opened the door, there was a broken key in the lock.
I live in the terrace and the whole house is mine (there are only 6 other houses in my bit). I'm off the main road and nobody's renting anything there as I know all the neighbours, so it was definitely an attempted burglary...
We did call the police and found out, that actually two flats in the nearby small block were broken into.
So, perhaps it's worth for you to report it. Same person might come back or target your neighbours.

  • I am posting this up for George who bought the bike off me - poor guy was bike jacked in Camden today. He has no internet access at the mo, so please PM me or call on Zero79SixEight 05Six One4Seven

    His user name is Crucifixi

The bike is one of 30 ever made, so super rare, and very unique.

  • My Specialized Sirrus 1990/91 was stolen from outside my house in west London (locked) on Thursday (May 27). I've edited the picture to show the correct colour Continental GP tyres and black bar tyres.

Now fitted with a black Shimano 105 chainset and an old Selle Italia Flite Titanium saddle. Frame size - 54cm. If anyone sees it at Brick Lane, ebay, etc please let me know on 0789 923208.

    Cheers, C
