Balls! Austin got his bike stolen?
Good thing he's sponsored by BMW.
Still shitty. -
• #3578
Yeah, I noticed that, it is wierd, and very badly lit as well - which makes it harder to identify..maybe he's not that stupid..then again.
We need some CSI enhance shit done on the pic. -
• #3579
I dont think the vans drop the bikes off to established bike retailers or shops..

• #3580
I would be amazed if there has never been a stolen bike sold in portsmouth.. does the Hampshire Constabulary exchange bike theft records with Greater London, Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford Constabulary? and then dedicate a team of hobby bobbies to cross check every gumtree/ebay/craglist and local ad for a bike for sale?

Well I've done all I can, but I don't think it's shed any real light on the mystery.

Without getting into a who is more valid than whom type tit for tat bullshit squabble....Maybe that is you being ill informed, 92 has the lowest count of 'rich' in the area? and the highest count of people that are 'artists' ? like recognised hang on the wall artists? before all the wannabees moved in there had always been 92...and a few others at the peanut factory...
We have been dug out since before the 'art tourist gold rush' that has occured over the last 4 years...? sounds like you are a little concerned people might think you are trusta so you bring that up first?
this place was always target number one for theft as it was the only place inhabited?...there was no one else to steal from so thay always came here first.whatever.....this was about bike theft and not who was more eligible to get ripped of because of their social strata?
Woah, I think we've got slightly different definitions of 'trustafarian'. I meant it in a 'if I'm nice to other people, they'll be nice to me' way, ie. trusting. I didn't mean it in a 'daddy gives me money' way at all. No, I'm definitely no trusta in either definition.
My point was, don't leave your bike where it can been seen/nicked.

Yeh behind geography block. Be careful security told me theres been a string of bike thefts on campus lately. Nice of them ot let us all know tho yeh? FML.... If you go to QMUL please invite people to group. I'm putting up flyers in a bit too.
Blimey, i used to lock my bike there a lot too.
helpfindmybike - i have seen your bike a lot, and know what i'm looking for.
I'm kind of in and out sometimes so not there much, but I'll keep an eye out for your bike when i'm around... but i'm assuming it won't be paraded around Mile End too much!
Another possibility is get down Brick Lane on Sunday. it's the logical marketplace for a bike like this (hipsterish, vintage, near to where it was stolen).

My studio is just behind Angel station and yesterday there was a bunch of bike thefts.
I saw at least 4 cut locks, 2 of which are hanging on the railings at the junction of City Road and St Johns st and Pentonville road. My girlfriends bike got seriously fucked up too, front wheel completely bent and also the rear stays, the thief had obviously tried to rip the bike of the rack, gotten frustrated and given it a good kicking. (it was locked up with a Abus Granit). Most of the cut locks were cheap flex type.
Just thought i should give a heads up to everyone out there.

Hi All,
I hope you can help me track down my bike which was stolen on Wednesday night locked outside Pizza Hut next to Parkers Piece, Cambridge. The bike is an Avanti Kona (NZ/Aust brand) that I bought over from NZ, so there shouldn't be too many if any others like it around. It had Shimano 105 gearing, and SPD-R pedals. The frame is compact and small, barely enough room for drink bottles. I know its a long shot!

Just been checking out ebay/gumtree. These are shimano WH-R540 wheels - the exact type of wheels on my bike that is 7 years old. Apparently they are 'new' Am i just paranoid?

nope, not paranoid.
Pretend to be an interested buyer.
If there is definite identifying feature, like a deep scratch, dent, or unique numbers, tease them out of him as an over enthusiastic buyer with lots of cash to spend quickly for new wheels! -
• #3590
I'm trying to find the wheels in an old photo to see if the scratch is the same
-
• #3592
erm, is that the link you think is dodgy?
thats a reputable bike shop - I've bought from them before. I doubt (hope) they are not your rims.
-
• #3593
No probably not, just thought it was strange they had rims that are 7 years old lying round, never used and same as mine

saw a bike being stolen from outside Camberwell College of Arts last night (mountain bike i think), three lads ripped the bike stand from the ground and ran off with the bike. i reported it immediately but i doubt they got caught. Sorry if it was your bike, i'd have interfered but i don't want to get stabbed.

Hello
FEATURES YOU MAY RECOGNISE.
• Make is Pashley and model is “Poppy”.
• Bright barbie pink.
• Vintage style frame.
• Straw basket on front which according to CCTV footage may have been removed.
• Matching mudguard on front and back.
• Silver bell on left hand handle bar.
• The leather on the saddle, which is manufactured by Brooks, is worn slightly on left hand side.
• There are two large black marks on the bar that runs between the legs.
• Pashley Poppies have a built in silver pump usually placed under the saddle, behind the rear wheel – my bike doesn’t as this is missing. There is a massive gap where this should sit.The problem with this is that it's a very popular bike and lots of ladies ride them, my wife included. The Poppy keeps it's looks very well and there's not much to distinguish one from another.
Anyway good luck with your search and I hope you get your bike back.

yeah I noticed one of those racks was totally un-rooted. I'll try to get them to re concrete it. it is pretty obvious though...
-
• #3598
Yeah, two of them are loose and somebody had just locked theirs up to one of the wrong ones i guess.
I had mine locked up (as i always do) to the railings by the road. The security guard had walked off just as i was unlocking mine, little tossers were eyeing up my bike too.

• #3599
I had the misfortune of riding down behind Brick Lane and having a load of proper scally lads giving me and my bike the eye earlier.
It was pretty obvious and fairly unsettling to be honest. Don't stray from the path unless you're swinging a d-lock as you go.
