lessman, repeating a highly offensive and slanderous assertion after you've been called out on it is hardly a way to endear yourself to anyone.

You've joined a very large forum where most people have met each other offline, there's a lot of love and trust in these places, so to have someone walk into the group and effectively say "one or more of you are thieving cunts" isn't going to win friends or influence people. Tacking on the "allegedly" by dismissing your own words with "I hope I'm wrong" then attempts to not have those people you've offended round on you.

I need a couple of small parts - bolts, BB, etc. Reading the recent posts (before the wild accusations) it sounds like the stolen stuff is confined to a small area. Is this the case?

let's just remember that this being a 'public' website, some thieves could well be walking among us. i mean, if i was a thief i would check who is going to brick lane before i hit the street. thieves are scared cowards, i dont think they would clash with someone if they could potentially avoid it. as someone else pointed out already, they could use all sources to take down their gumtree/ebay ads or brick lane luck.

on the other hand, accusations are not sooo nasty.. i like to see the whip going down! >:D

not big parts at least. i'm going there right now to get some light holder strap thingies as they were gone with the bike and i need new ones for my new bike -- got it for 35 quid on ebay!!! and if anyone thinks it's a stolen one, let's please visit the old lady in eltham and ask her directly.

My bike was stolen today outside hackney community college between the hours of 1-4 pm today. Its a white bridgestone anchor track frame, stickers all over, red deep v on the rear and a mavic ellipse wheel on the front. Is there an 'Attempted stolen bike' thread?

This from a mate:

Some dude tried to steal my bike last week.... whilst I was riding it!!!
I was cycling along at a fairly steady pace down Hungerford Rd N7 at 7:30pm last wednesday...when this little fucker comes out of nowhere... runs full pelt into me and I go flying off my bike onto the road... I turned round and lunged at the bike and grabbed the frame... I was on the ground trying to wrench it from his grip, he was standing above me pulling it back towards him.... whilst laying into me with several kicks to the head and face for good measure... this whole thing lasted about 10 seconds til some cars came down the street & beeped and flashed their lights... he ran off sans bike.. and I jumped back on and peddled as fast as I could out of there!
So... I guess the moral of the story here is don't cycle down dark, quiet, cycle friendly streets at night... stick to the main roads. And 2. wear a helmet! It was my best defense in this situation...

She's a female also so I guess they don't care who they kick in the head! She's got a fairly low key commuter bike too.

Sad times.
