• Do you know how the bike was secured at the time daccordi?

using an abus granite lock, cut right through and left there.

Granit U-Lock, or Steel-o-Flex?

• that scissor on gumtree is so dodgy anyone update on it!?!?!

• that scissor on gumtree is so dodgy anyone update on it!?!?!

oh it been reported, owner went and took it back, happy ending.

• Apparently a "fan" of Super Ted bought it for £100 and Ted bought it off him for £50.

• oh that's what happen? for fuck sake, give them more reason to keep nicking bikes.

• Hi guys. My Specialized Dolce got nicked around 6 weeks ago. I had it insured, but unfortunately the lock was a gift from a friend (as at the time I couldn't afford a lock having splashed out on my bike!!) and so, we have no receipt. the insurance company are asking for a receipt for the lock and even though I have explained that it was a gift, I am having no joy with them. Any suggestions? I can't afford to throw £600 worth of bike down the drain and I'm turning into a right mardy mare without my bike. Public transport smells :( :( :(

• I have a dream where cyclists gather en-masse and go down to Brick Lane and just take all the bikes and then try get them back to their rightful owners. In my mind it plays out like an art-house movie but in reality I expect it might look something like this:

• jonny, how would you know its yours, instead of some other poor soul that had their own "spider" pinched?

they are quite rare but ultimately what difference would it make?

Jonny, I imagine you are the only person to have had a Tioga Spyder recently nicked in East London.

Chances are it's yours.

• I've just got this e-mail through work, Mountain bike distributor Jungle have been broken into:

**Dear All

This is a letter I had hoped I would never have to write but unfortunately we had a break in on Tuesday night.

Amongst various office computers, clothing, helmets and the like – the scumbags also took a decent amount of Santa Cruz and Ibis bikes, including pretty much the worlds only Santa Cruz Tallboy that had been shipped over for the Eurobike launch next week.

Tallboy spec:
Size: Large
Colour: matte carbon with dark red graphics (one side only)
Shock: Fox RP23 boost valve
Fork: Fox 32 F29 100 RLC Taper 15mm (black)
Spec: XTR with Avid Elixir CR Mag brakes / Easton low rise Monkeylite bars, EA90 stem / Chris King tapered inset headset (black) / Thomson Masterpiece seatpost w/ WTB Silverado saddle / Mavic TN 719 rims on DT 240S hubs / Kenda Smallblock 8 tyres / Unique Santa Cruz rear QR.

This is certainly the only bike of its kind in Europe. And one of only a handful made so far – so its going to stand out like a sore thumb on the trails. Please ask everyone out there – riders, shops and the like, to keep an eye out.

There were also several other bikes, details of which will follow once we start clearing through the mess.

Obviously your help in spreading the word on this is much appreciated – please contact Jungle Products with any information.

thanks

• Some mofo nicked my Langster on Sunday. Yeah, yeah, I know it's a Langster, but it was ok after I changed the wheels, tyres, seatpost, seat, handlebars, bar tape, brakes, cables & chain. It's like losing my own child. Was carrying a cricket bat around during the Ashes in case I saw a guy riding it and just 'happened' to have a bat on me. Will see if I can post a pic...

• This is a F* joke the cops need to do something, the disused garage on Mare street is being squatted by travelers and is full of bikes, I told a copper on Broadway market and he just shrugged his shoulders disinterested.
If people were selling stolen cars on brick lane on a Sunday, it would be different story for the Police
We all need to start getting the entire LFGSS members to get all the bikes back every Sunday.

Amen.

• If my bike got stolen I think I might actually brutally murder someone from the pure rage.

This is why I'm so scared!

• murdering someone over a bicycle?

yes, a touch extreme to says the least.

• murdering someone over a bicycle?

Yes MURDER.

Fucking fly at someone like Raedon from Mortal Kombat.

• My bike got nicked just after midnight on Piccadilly on Tuesday night when I was looking for discarded sandwiches etc outside Napket. It was unattended for at most a minute but I was less than five feet away. An opportunist thief practised a spot of "freeganism" of his own and was gone by the time I turned round.

It's a black 2008 Trek Soho. It started out looking like this:

But I'd removed the chain guard, flipped the stem to point down, removed both brakes, and put on Time SPD pedals. The rear wheel is a blue deep-V, and I had a bulb horn and front light gaffer-taped to the handlebars. The handle-grips were worn-out white rubber. There's blue masking tape round the front of the saddle. I have the frame number if anyone's interested.

For nine months last year I was a courier, and bought this bike in my second week and have ridden it every day since, so it has enormous sentimental value.

I was hoping that because it's a brakeless fixie with SPD pedals that I'd find the thief crashed down the road, but no luck.
From what people on the street told me, most likely it was stolen by a junkie who then tried to sell it to a night-worker in Soho for a quick fix. I spent an hour looking for it, and asked lots of rickshaw riders if they'd been offered anything, but got sympathy but no sightings.

Do you think it's worth me going to Brick Lane?

I'd really appreciate it if you could keep an eye out and let me know if you see it around.

You're shitting me... Where and when?
That is was/is a nice bike...

• I would says other cities in Europe such as France for instance have a low bike crime, but that because of the difference in law, you'd get locked up for minor offence and get put in cell that resemblance a 19th century one and fed only dry bread, sometime take several day even for solicitor to appear let alone a doctor, even if you're innocent, that usually (in my theory) why bike crime is quite low in France to the point of simply leaving your bike unlocked for just 10 minutes.

Have you been reading Victor Hugo recently?

• Well, only seen a couple Disney film but that it, why's that?

from under her work (in large carpark) on tuesday night. not sure of details.

I am not sure where you get the idea that bike crime is low in France. It is certainly not the case in Paris. I don't have any figures/data to back this up and I don't care. I studied in Rennes, in Brittany, in the mid 80s and a lot of my fellow students had their bikes stolen, my brother was there in the late 70s and had 2 bikes stolen.

And as to the 19th century prison system....

Where do you get all your facts?
