Stolen bikes

  • I totally agree with you, if someone stole my bike I would find out where they lived and break their legs!

I'm sorry, but I'm not empathizing very much at the moment.

I've had 2 bikes of mine stolen in 18 years. I still miss both of them.

Say what you will, but I'm all out of sympathy, and Lfgss seems to have run out also.

  • Poor chap - he's not a thief but his mates are...
You should get a photo of the ACTUAL thief and post it if you want your mates' face saved.
Or don't bother - I don't really give a fuck + this will blow over anyway.

  • If I was at a pub with my mates bike, and somoene came up and said it was nicked and knew who's it was, and even if I didn't know where my mate had got it from I wouldn't just say sorry and give it back?!
He must surely have known it was nicked in order to be so willing to give it back?

    • He knew that a bike had been stolen from the party

    • He recognised Rob the guy who came and spoke to us at the pub as being from the party and trusted him when he said that the bike was his housemates.

    • He didn't know the bike he was riding was stolen

    • Hackney/Dalston/Stoke Newington are not very big places and you would be a complete twat to ride a stolen fixed gear around there.

    • I appreciate the sentiments of posting his picture on here as I reckon bike thieves are utter scum, but in this instance its a witchhunt against an innocent guy.

This is a very unfortunate incident where all the fingers point to him but he is actually an innocent guy and I wouldn't be bothering to spend my morning on here at work posting in his defense unless I was 100% certain that he is not a tea leaf. I think you guys should try and take into account the repercussions of posting someones picture on the internet under the heading of thief as that is very tarnishing to someones Identity and could amount to something off-net happening that doesn't need to.

I don't anything more needs to be said on the subject to be honest. I would expect any decent guy to do what i have done and stick up for his friend when he is being falsely accused so please lets go back to finding real thieves and reporting on stolen bikes as this is all becoming a waste of space in this thread when more important posts could be getting overlooked.

  • Thanks for clearing it up.
Shame he looks like a crim!
    (joke)

  • Can I get a timeline of events please. None of this makes sense..

    • friend goes to party
    • bike gets stolen from party
    • friend borrows bike from acquaintance
    • borrowed bike turns out to be the stolen bike from party
    • friend of stolen bike boy takes it back from outside pub
    • E warriors begin flaming

    also I don't understand this

    Stolen bike!!
Some thieving c@nt stole my bike from outside my girlfriend's house last night on Colenso Road E5. .

It was locked outside my girl's place, to some railings, locked-up with a mini-d. They even took the lock.

it was THE only bike in the hallway that night

  • The plot thickens..

  • I'm willing to believe that this could be a big misunderstanding.

I once lived with a total bell-end. The day I moved in he offered to lend me a nice old road bike - told me I could have it, in fact. Turns out he'd found it unlocked outside a pub and ridden it home the night before. Fucking twat. If I hadn't bothered to ask a bit more, I could have been riding a stolen bike around without realising.

He also used to play that "King of the Bongo" song over and over again, really loudly.

  • Manu Chao - Bloody st0ners!

  • Like property is theft anyway, dude.

  • I'm willing to believe that this could be a big misunderstanding.

It really is, trust me. I wouldn't have spent 2 hours defending my friend if he was a silly boy who had nicked a bike. He is a stand up guy and went to that party to get pissed, not packing some serious tools on the off chance he might be able to rob a bike on the way home!

  • i stole some eclairs from a corner shop once.
i was guilt ridden and hid them in a bush, went back, paid the guy and when i came back to the bush they were gone.
    Karma?

  • i also worked at a bank with shit loads of cameras but still found a way to pinch some spare cash.
i took the exact amount the bank had charged me in fines ever (it was about £80 i think).

  • i have no moral compass

  • but it feels so good to have got it out in the open.
    i'm sorry HSBC.

  • You fucker.

  • Hehee...

When I was at school, we would put boobie mags inside the newspaper we'd buy from the milk bar. Though I have never stolen anything since, I do not regret this.

  • ... I must say this Thread is FGSS gold......

First I thought he was guilty and like everyone else hated the theif.... then I was not so sure, maybe it was a mistake that anyone could make....And Now ... with the Eclairs..I just dont know anymore.......

One Question I have is ...."friend borrows bike from acquaintance" <<< Is this guy the "real" theif??

  • That eclair story lightened up a dark couple of pages.

I don't like this photo thing at all. Tabloid mentality. Admittedly I have no idea, but what if the guy he borrowed it from bought it unknowingly from a theif? Sounds like there were a couple of weeks between the theft and the bike's finding. It's not always so black and white. Chill out, maybe to King of the Bongo.

  • It can't have been him - he's not black...

  • Hehee...

hmm I remember those times... but I did put a fiver down for a newspaper and ran... so technically speaking i was not stealing...

I don;'t know if I am following this conversation, but do we actually know who this thief is??

  • 'Give me the cake and nobody gets hurt...'
