I've had really good service in BLB recently, and if I owned a bike shop I wouldnt want to be doing a citizen arrest on every crim that tried to sell me something. They've provided a cctv shot of the guy, most shops wouldnt be bothered to do that.

If he's known by BLB why don't they just forcibly take anything he's trying to flog and kick him out?
That's easy to type, and not so easy to do. The police won't be interested, and the guy is likely to kick a fuss if challenged.

Oh of course, although a shop full of vengeful cyclists might make things a little less difficult! Just seems such a shame for Ashleyh to have seen his bike again, in a 'friendly' environment no less, and be no closer to getting it back despite plenty of others offering to 'help' if they happen to see it out and about.

It would be very irresponsible for anyone to try and forcibly take back the bike. What if he pulled a knife and stabbed someone? It hardly seems worth taking the risk for your own bike let alone someone else's.
2nd dibs for £100

I'd get stabbed for recovering a beloved Brooklyn. Won't be the first time anyway

I've just seen this:
Might be worth a browse, but most of these appear to be fairly low value. Valiant effort, though, given the huge number of recovered bikes.

well i am sure the owner would have just taken it off him, but he was not at work, and at least they let me take the cctv , i dont blame them for not getting involved ...
keep a look out

Bunch of stuff stolen off a mate last night, Manchester so probably not likely to be spotted by most of you but the targeted nature of what was stolen mean it might pop up and the more people looking the better.

640pm from the bike racks outside tesco on the old kent road last night. They cut through a kryptonite mini evo and a kryptonite cable in a little under 20 minutes.
It was just a hanger for shit parts so all I've really lost is the frame but it is quite distinctive so if anyone tries to sell you it, lemme know.

That's shit news but thanks for letting us know what you were locking up with. I use a mini-evo, so useful to know :(
Everyone else, PLEASE TELL US HOW YOU WERE LOCKED UP, PLEASE!

I'm going to start locking up in dodgy places and watch from a distance... Then cut the limbs off anyone who touches my bike. Like a cycle super hero

Damn, I'm really sorry to hear that, privatepatterson. Makes me sick :( I'll keep my eyes pealed for you.
I'm sorry to say that it always surprises me how many people use a mini evo to secure their bike in high risk areas such as London. It is simply not enough for use as a primary lock; a single cut with bolt cutters is all it takes to release the shackle, no power tools needed.
I've seen countless mini evos in two pieces at bike stands around the city and I've witnessed a forumer friend come back to his bike locked with a mini evo, only to find it gone.
A note to everyone, the Kryptonite mini evo a secondary lock. Read through the Locks that work thread for a suitable primary lock or just use a Fahg.

I had no idea about that Dom - I was of the opinion/misguided knowledge that most Kypto's (orange upwards) were pretty resisilent - my full size version of the Evo certainly stood up to someone trying to get it off and bares the scars today.
Ta for headsup innit :)

My mini evo was angle grinded through in under a minute, I have the CCTV footage to prove it :l

privatepatterson so sorry to hear about this, but such a unique frame hopefully won't be hard to spot! Will keep my eyes pealed for you!
Note to everyone, carry 4 D-locks

They're not bad in the scale of things, see >>> how not to lock your bike.
But for the purposes of Locks That Work, it must be uncuttable by hand bolt croppers - and the evo's arent unfortunately.

I am not a fan of the mini evo even for a secondary. I like to be able to lock both wheels to frame and stand, which is often not possible with that lock. I do use it sometimes, supplemented by an equally non-robust cable, trusting in the Fahg on the rear wheel.
^^ obvs not too good with numbers either. No way that's a 52t.
