Shady looking guy spotted cycling through Broadway Market this morning with 2 decent looking mountain bike wheels (disc rotors etc). Balanced either end of his handlebar. Was heading north towards London Fields

I've just seen this post on another forum I use. It seems a bit odd - does anyone recognise anything?
Argos, Langster, Allez, mountain bike.
Edit I should add that the OP seems like a good guy and known to many people on the forum - he's genuinely just asking for a friend. (I have no idea about how reliable his friend is though.)

Hi there! Anyone has got their Fuji Track 2.0 stolen? Looking to buy Fuji Track 2.0 looking as 2012-13 model. The only problem it's dirt cheap. Therefore, makes me wonder if it's not stolen.

Perhaps! Looks like a good pub bike.
Edit: I didn't find it by the skip, that's my safe location.

I like how the bell survived even though virtually nothing else did.

^ Super hot. Looks like it's been built up with stolen parts, cos those wheels don't go with those pedals.

A guy selling multiple bikes giving various reasons for sale! Maybe I'm just paranoid but it reeks of theft. CHECK THEM OUT - : http://www.gumtree.com/sellerads/1023817845

The eBay one has gotta be stolen, botched paint job that's been chipped off whenever it's locked probably.

Having that many bikes / excuses for sale is indeed odd.
Even odder is his command of written English, he's almost eloquent! -

My bike was stolen from Mitcham eastfields train station bike rack yesterday. Please let me know if you spot anyone on it, give them a slap! Haha or if someone's selling it or even spot it in a second hand shop, I'm greatly appreciative of any help or advice on getting my bike back.

I had my brand new green Surly Disc Trucker 60cm tourer with 26" wheels stolen from close to Gipsy Hill on Sunday. Please keep an eye out!

If anyone has lost a full chrome frame, with a black brooks that was chained to the frame. I just saw it being walked through upper Holloway by a pair of likely looking lads.

Not quite sure what happened to my bike last night. Had it locked up outside my house and when I unlocked it this morning noticed the rear wheel nuts were almost completely undone and the axle as far back in the dropouts as the chain would let it go, as if someone had tried to tug it out. Had my front wheel and frame locked.
The thief must be retarded, it looks like they tugged it all the way back and have given up when they could've just taken the chain off the front chainring.
Looking at insurance options today...

A better lock / enough locks to secure rear wheel as well as front + frame would be a better investment than insurance premiums methinks.

Well, it sounds as if your drivetrain was locked with a chain, so well done, you. :)

What sort of penalty would a guy stealing a bike actually face, if caught in the act by the police; let's say a "first time" offender? Would it in reality have any repercussions whatsoever?
I'm not really pro (read I'm anti) capital punishment, and in any event killing a guy for stealing a bike seems slightly over the top. On the other hand if I ever caught someone stealing mine, I would definitely see to it that some serious harm came his way.

Maybe make him ride the bike down a certain massive hill.
-

I always wanted to leave a brakeless bike at the top of a hill for someone to steal and fail at riding but I would feel bad if they died and it's probably illegal.
Seen this chap in dalston a week ago - think it's genuinely his (surprising as it seems)
He just rides it round all day and trackstands like a pro. It's got carbon Hed clincher MTB wheels with blue hubs.
