Vintage Allin fixed gear stolen
Was it from the station?
was a Abus Granit Steel-O-Flex 1000.
Fuck that's my lock, no attempts yet but I haven't left my current ride overnight anywhere.
Double d's to the top of the shopping list I think.

I am still waiting for more details and, if possible, pictures, but the Hackney Council building Netil House, on Bocking Street, has been burgled twice in the last week. More specifically, the garage and 'secure' bike parking area inside the garage. The bikes stolen include at least 2 Bromptons and several white hybrids which have Hackney Council on them in green writing. A couple of the hybrids will be without their front wheels as they were locked to those useless stands that clamp the front wheel.
These are all bikes that are used for cycle training in Hackney, of council employees and others. Please keep an eye out and bear in mind that council employees. Park Rangers and so on use these bikes so just because if you see someone who does not 'look like a cyclist' on one of them, they might be legit. Thanks. -

Hi,
Not a whole bike, thankfully, but the front wheel of my bike was stolen this evening outside the Royal Festival Hall on the southbank, some time between 7 and 10. Stupidly thought I'd looped the cable through, but in fact did not. It's a Campag Vento; if anybody happens to see it advertised on gumtree etc, if you could let me know that would be really appreciated.

was a Abus Granit Steel-O-Flex 1000. nothing on the floor. doubt they would have cut it? picked the lock? it had done me really well untill last night.
No, it hadn't. You were lucky that a serious thief hadn't happened by before. There's been some excellent advice about locking on this forum for some time, now. A chain lock as sole or primary security is just not good enough.
i have a second one, i will continue to use it for now......
Then it's probably only a matter of time before you buy a third one.

You know that inside that big thick black tube is a piece of string, right? Most of the "lock" is air.

I would like to see a cross section of the steel-o-flex granit still.
They do a chain with the same lock type.

hey. my sister's much loved Brian Rourke single speed was stolen from broadway market last week tues 26th march. There ain't many of em around - a 1980s frame mid green colour with dark grey handlebar tape, gatorskin tyres and sks mudgards.. if anyone notices ole Brian, please contact me it'd be much appreciated, thank you :(
I might be completely wrong but having a scroll through this thread and seeing your bike again, I recall seeing something very similar this Sunday near Brick Lane Market. Not a seller, just some trendy guy walking around with it. But it was the same colour, same size, Brian Rourke and singlespeed. No mudguards on it though.

At 1.20pm today I saw a couple of lads checking out bike stands around Foley St for bikes to steal.
They were dressed in commuter type cycling gear with helmets and rucksacks and one even had a green snap-on trouser clip but both had full face balaclavas on and were riding drop bar road bikes I think.
They rode slowly past the bike stands on corner of Candover St spoke to each other then did a u turn back to the bikes.
I was riding behind them initially on a Boris bike so they were riding towards me and I said to them "I know what you're up to boys, too obvious" at which point one of them swore at me and they both turned into Candover St heading towards Mortimer St.
They had definitely gone to alot of effort to look like "cyclists" rather than dodgy kids on a mountain bike you usually see but the balaclavas kind of gave the game away.
Have reported to the local SNT
Saw these two guys again today riding north on Fitzroy St at 12:50 and then heading across Fitzroy Sq.
No facemasks this time and not lads at all;easily 30+ yo so very likely pros.

I'm intrigued. "White girl wasted". Is that different/special? How many of varieties of 'wasted' are there?
Also, a pizza should have been included as part of the compensation/apology package.

I thought it was a Winona Ryder flick. Or maybe something with Drew Barrymore in it.

AKA a junior hacksaw.
The number you see on bikes that have had someone have a go at but owner hasn't realised what the grooves mean.
