nah, i make best use of the time...make a few calls, send a few emails. its a time thing.
I'm new here and don't swear often, but you are some kind of cunt.

hahaha someone above mentioned the "Right turn on Red" rule in parts of the USA...
Can you imagine if left turn on red was allowed in london?!? the entire city would be a completely solid mess of coagulated vehicles within the first hour.
As for red light jumping, in my most humble opinion, it's fine to burn a red on an empty pedestrian crossing, but trying to do it on a junction is just pretty dangerous. After all the red light indicates it's not safe to proceed etc etc blah blah...
But then again you don't even need a provisional licence to ride your bike anywhere on the roads, let alone through a red light at an unpredictable and complicated junction.

I forgot to mention my passion for 1000 piece windscreen jigsaws. Like I said, it's a time thing.

• #2056
How do you get the pieces to stay on?

Cunning Kensington Police out in force on the High Street today. At the bottom of the High St, innocently carrying out Bike Register registrations, yet next 3 junctions up, on standby to catch out those naughty RLJers.

hmmmmmm..... RLJ licence beureau.... that's quite an idea..... 'I'm licenced officer, it's fine - but I've just lost 2 minutes that I stacked up in the last week, if you'll just sign here, when I'm 100 I can reclaim it just when I need it..... Thanks'....

Just taking a pause from an all day RLJ tour to let you know I've already earned over an hour since 8am, just by jumping reds. This is a great way to extend your life.
Get this though... I've discovered if I stop at Green and wait for it to go Red... you guessed it! I can jump that Red and gain an extra 2 minutes I'd have missed out on otherwise... It's like shooting fish in a barrel!
p.s. The next red I jump will buy back the time it took me to post this, see you later suckers!

Is Amber like hitting pause in this space time continuum?

You've got the wrong end the stick with this I feel.
What is the ultimate luxury?
Waste- being able to waste goods, services, time and money.
If you are so time poor that you are trying to hoard minutes by jumping reds that simply serves to point out how, mentally, you are a povo.

I wait at greens, burning greenbacks
I'm CA$H, me

If my sums are right, by RLJ'ing at a rate above 60 RLJ/h I'll live forever. Corrected for sleep this goes up to 80 RLJ/h so to build in some additional contingency I'm working on 100 RLJ/h.
Anyone got a map showing traffic control point density?

so you too are happy for car drivers to jump red lights?
No, just for cyclist...
Fact is, it can be safely done on a bicycle, but not in a car.
-
• #2065
Fact yeah!
-
• #2066
No, just for cyclist...
Fact is, it can be safely done on a bicycle, but not in a car.
But it's still breaking the law. And until cyclists take laws seriously regarding failing to stop at a red signal, car drivers won't take the mobile phone law seriously.
-
• #2067
That's a bit of a stretch to conclude that, don't you think?
-
• #2068
Neither crime is taken seriously by the filth.
Therefore neither cyclists or drivers will take either crime seriously until the powers that be do.

• #2069
I always stop at green, my brother, he's an RLJ, he might be coming the other way.
-
• #2070
Fact is, it can be safely done on a bicycle...
false, it doesn't make it any more safer, even if there's a honking great HGV behind you.

This is both true, and untrue.
It's a bit like the helmet situation (hah!) in that there is both a situational aspect which is personal to the person/time/place, but also a societal aspect which is generally totally ignored.
i.e. what makes cyclists safer? More cyclists being the answer (we think), therefore if no helmet compulsion means more cyclists then a lack of helmet compulsion is demonstrably safer than if it were to be introduced.
Same with RLJ- I've sat at red lights at 3am in the car, not a soul around, there would be absolutely no risk to going through the light- that I was capable of detecting at that point.
However, looking at that situation at a more general level then it would obviously be fucking chaos if everyone went through reds whenever they deemed it to be safe- we come back to my personal favourite dead horse, that of the agreed framework of actions.
i.e. if we all play by the same rules then we can predict that which others are going to do with a far higher degree of accuracy than if we all obey our own set of rules.
What's that dobbin? Ok, I'll stop.

If your just walking and you get to a crossing, the little man is red but you can still see its safe to cross, most people would still cross, unless your with children or old, disabled ect, but generally the people who do it, do it safely, same logic right?
-
• #2073
Riding a track bike empowers me to treat the street as my backyard and I adopt a jungle survivor mentality towards rules and regulation. Wearing all black while riding a hhsb steed reenforces RLJ'ing as my right.
-
• #2074
Yeah it would cause complete chaos if we all could go through red lights if it looks safe
generally i think people shouldn't do it, i would never tell some one else to do it, if i'm riding with some one else less experienced i will always stop and wait
its like riding brakeless, i know i can do it perfectly safe and i actually ride safer, but not every one can, again, same logic right?
-
• #2075
No, not really. Brakeless riders (if any good) can ride in a safe and predictable manner.
The law doesn't apply to you though
