The "everybody else is just jealous" argument is one of my favourite logical fallacies in debates. Top effort!

I wish I'd said that.

Every time I pass a cyclist who has stopped at a red light for absolutely no point
But there is always a point. Even if its just to scupper a publics perception of cyclists as RLJ ers.
And have a rest. -

Some stupid bitch jumped every red light on my commute home this evening. She then got annoyed, accusing me of swearing at her. I said that I'd called her a stupid bitch for jumping red lights and pointed out to her that whilst it was her life to lose, there would be plenty of people who'd have the right hump if her blatant stupidity caused any traffic tailbacks.
She remained disgusted.

I first read that as "the right hump her " and thought she is right to remain disgusted

Don't be mistaken. Its not a look of envy. It's definitely more a look of 'yeah, i should've done that too'.
When I leave work late, and I'm in my car, I leave an area of town that is 99.9% traffic-free after 8pm. To get home I have to use roads that are inhabited, but controlled by traffic lights. If they're on red, I drive through at least two sets.
The clock is ticking. If people want to sit around at a red light for no good reason because a law said so, so be it. I prefer to opt out and think a bit more freely if thats alright with you.
Same on my bike. It just makes sense.

wac to you. and thats fine. make sense to me. i don't feel big or clever. i just can't be arsed to hang around when theres no point. and i don't evangelise about it or judge others.

Out of order, I can forgive it on a bike as it's hugely unlikely you'll injure anyone too badly, even if you hit them. In a car it's unforgivable, if you did hit someone, no matter how unlikely you think that's going to happen, you could quite easily hurt or kill them. Same as drink driving, even if you reckon you're in control, imagine how you'd feel if the worse happens and you kill someone, is it worth all those extra 2 minutes at home to wipe however many years off someone's life. I hope you get caught, and soon.

I've always found that calling a person a cunt is a great way to get them to see my point of view, find some common ground and have a productive discussion. Admittedly it was wasn't seen that way when I was working as a hostage negotiator but that's a very closed-minded profession anyway.
Now I am training for the priesthood and everything is going great. -

I'm guessing you meant uninhabited?
-
• #1989
you guess right. thank you.
mr snotty...usually I'm travelling about 2 miles an hour. i think the killing/maiming thing (especially humans) is pretty much out of the question.
if i save 2 minutes a day for my whole life and reach 100, that nets me an extra 50.69 days of actual living time. i feel its actually more stupid to not do it. and just from my own perspective I look at those that don't as being a bit thick.

i thought given the stupidity of the rest of your post you did mean you ran reds in inhabited areas
still my assessment has not changed

So he jumps red lights in his car?
Utter cunt.

• #1992
50.69 days > 51 days if you kill and old guy.
50.69 days > 51 years if you kill a kid (a smoking kid, more if they're healthy).Even at 2 miles an hour there are pleanty of risks, what if I came tearing down the road without lights and a beer jacket on, not looking either way as the light is green for me. Despite my unlit drunkenness this is still your fault, please stop.

I take the MultiCab option.

excellent. we are both in agreement. we both think one another is stupid. now we can definitely appreciate each others perspectives.
btw - everything i just described would be legal in the US. there must be some reason why they do it. my read on it is that it just makes sense.

a small grey box with a red cross in it?
-
• #2000
I take it your RLJs are left turns then? This is OK in the US as it's the expected behaviour of cars in some places, this isn't the case here and whether you reckon it's OK or not is irrelevant. If someone decides to cut a corner, because there won't be a car there, the light is red so they can't come through, you'll hit them, A tonne of steel at 2mph + a bike at 20mph = likely injury.
I think I do see things from other road users perspective. Every time I pass a cyclist who has stopped at a red light for absolutely no point, they all ways look like they wish they were doing what I was. Forget the law. Most of the time it just makes sense.
