  • KX ftw

Now you need to come up with some kind of theme for the ride.

  • I'd imagine we'll start early? I'll come down the night before, I have a relatives place I can use to crash at

  • It's fairly central so am easy for where we start

  • Does this have to be at Easter? Can you do a Fleche at any time that still gets all the qualify crap right?

  • Unless there's still snow about, or post-Brexit zombies, a 6am away should be pretty quiet and not lose everyone too much sleep.

  • We'll need to make sure we'll have a 22hr control point between 0300 and 0400hrs.

  • We could start later, 8am, which would open up more options for controls and also be closer to brekkie time rather than freezingdicksoff time?

  • The aim is to make York, right? Is there something happening in York we are actually aiming for? I presume all the groups converge, get drunk, get naked, screw each other than head back home once satisfied, or something similar, yeah?

  • ACH usually set off two teams, one at 8am and one at 9am for that reason.

  • later would be better in my eyes - for me to get to KX for 0600 would mean a 0300 reveille.
0800 is much better. 0900 better still.

As long as i'm back for church on sunday though, all will be well, and i'll set off whenever

  • I just try and be out of London before that 8-9am shitfest but actually a 6am start would mean I'd be up at 4-5 so let's go for later. Even on GoodFriday© there's probably going to be a cager spike. So, is the plan to leave Friday morning and stay in York Sat night, returning Sunday? Or are you just going to turn around and ride back?

  • I'd likely get a train to back to Manchester

  • I think, one way or the other I would be going back on Saturday. If I can get a stupid cheap train fare, I'll be doing drunken train rides. If not, I'll try ECEing back - much lower time limit would mean I could probably sleep in a cabbage field on the way home - assuming 900km total, that's a 67hr time limit! half of which would be done at 24hrs

Assuming you can ECE an arrow, of course.

  • Yes would be. Will tap up a few of the guys on the next Tuesday Hills ride as well.

Haven't got a TT champion to sit on the front, though.

  • I’ll try make a hill ride too. I’m in Brockley but it’s tricky due to child care and wife is 37 weeks pregnant..

  • @hippy @Super_Ted @cjr @alialias

Flatlands in the middle. I've got a gpx of the whole 441 but don't know how to send it to you. PM me an email, and I'll send it.

  • Holy shit, I turn away for 5 minutes and some next-level planning takes place. Good work.

I'm on the Surrey border, and happy to start when/wherever.

  • Route checking tomorrow 😜

  • Yikes. Good luck!

I'll start planning arrow route two tomorrow.

I've got a really good, rolling but not hilly, London-Peterborough route which avoids Essex and the Fens completely (always a plus in my book). Plus a Peterborough to Leeds route which was one of my best days out ever.

Together they total about 400k. Could easily add more on nice roads if feeling ambitious.

  • Stop poaching my riders with all your talk of rolling hills and nice roads! 😜

    Cabbage fields forever!

  • Team 2 - something like...

This is just about the mininum distance for an arrow (370k), and it's not as flat as Jame's route but there's more variety of scenery. About 7,000ft of climbing in total.

  • Hah! The direction of the wind will make a lot of difference to which route is more fun :-)

  • I'll be making umpteen offerings to the wind gods between now and Easter.

A roaring SSE. Imagine......we'll be at Goole by midnight.
