  • I too need to get back into it, Stevenage 100k sound good as well.

  • I've sent the guy an email to see if he's still happy to receive online entries. If so, I'm in

  • It's a yes, and I've entered. Hope the weather isn't shit

  • I see Dumps lurking, fancy it too?

  • Hamburg Bern Koln Hamburg

Haha, that would be a wee bit longer than Hamburg-Berlin-Köln-Hamburg. :)

  • ^^ Visiting mother in the North that weekend I'm afraid. Up for something this Sunday if you're around and the weather's OK though. What say you?

  • Did the Centurion Challenge in the Cotswolds last weekend. Aside from short hail shower the weather was pretty nice. A couple of killer hills but otherwise fairly comfortable. Perhaps I'm ready for a 200 now? I've also looked at the Stevenage one but have too much work coming in at the moment.

I signed up with Audax at the start of the year but only got round to going on a ride at the end of August. I think you just have to book yourself onto one and then start training. Then fingers crossed with the weather of course.

  • I'm doing the Dartmoor Devil this weekend. Is anyone else going?

  • Got my route sheet for the Stevenage 100k today! They've included a note telling me to look happy at the start. Don't they know I'm a moody hipster?

  • Mine hasn't turned up yet... hopefully it's on its way

  • Neither mine, hoping as well.

Pity I threw away the LFGSS jersey in France (unnecessary weight).

  • You can check on their site to make sure your details are there - Ed, you're definitely in there, Group C. Upstart, I don't know your name but expect you're on the list as well. We've all been assigned a group and given staggered start times so if we're in different groups we'll be starting at least five minutes apart. I'm in Group B, so hmm.

I will be repping our endz with my forum cap.

  • I and John Stevenage is in Group C, thank bothwell, haven't notice this.

I'll be rocking the blue Genesis with massive tyres and John on a tiny wheel roadie.

  • I'll only be starting five minutes before you two so I expect you'll catch me up easily! I'll be fixed and on my Langster as usual.

Quite looking forward to this. I've never done of these before so I've got basically no idea what's going on. The route sheet says there's four controls and one info control and that each one will be manned by helpers which is usefu - seems like a good one to choose as a first attempt at Audax because they've given us so much info and have so many people helping.

  • Annoyingly I want to do it on my Tokyo Fixed, but need to be send to Oak Cycles to get the dented top tube sorted.

You can choose to ride with me and John if you like, or do it pan y agua.

  • Ya, I'll tag along with you - always more enjoyable riding with people you know. Must be some dent if the bike's got to go to Ryan for fixing before it's usable!

  • It is usable, it's just that it was intended to get a respray when I got back from Africa due to it's being quite rusty, unfortunately the baggage handler have different idea.

I'd rather respray the frame having the dent filled in.

  • Ah, fair enough - can't be seen on something rusty! You should cover it with fabric. I see a guy by Elephant and Castle every week or so riding a mountain bike covered in jungle camouflage! He does not blend in with anything.

  • I'm in group F so not off until 1025. Looks like plenty of time for pre-start coffee!

I'll be fixed - black dolan if its raining, blue Mercian if it's dry. So probably dolan

  • Need to do a self-organised 200 this month as I'm vaguely looking to do a RRTY, and I missed a calendar event as I was in snowdonia.

Thinking the of doing the London-brighton-london perm either this saturday or next, but I really need to pull my finger out and organise it or else I'll fail the RRTY in the first month!

All set for this tomorrow, wish me luck!

Going solo, so if the scenery doesn't keep me entertained, does anyone have any tactics to maintain sanity? :p

EDIT: also realised that you don't have to start the RRTY in october (first month of the new season) you can start if whenever you like as long as you do at least a 200 each consecutive month for a year, for anyone wondering!

  • All my docs were waiting in the post box so we're all good. Really looking forward to a nice wet pootle

  • Me too! The organisers want everybody to arrive by 9:45am - I've had a look at train times and there's a train leaving from London Kings X just after 9am. If we were to get that one we'd get into Stevenage just before 9:25 which would give us enough time to get to the park and have a coffee and whatever munchies Costello's Cafe has to offer before picking up our brevet cards and hitting the start point. Anybody up for a meetup at Kings X for the train out? It wouldn't be far to ride from London instead but I live in Sarf London and I'm really lazy.

  • The 9.03 (I assume that's what you mean?) is East Coast - they require bike reservations so I was aiming for the 8.53 as that's FCC which we can just hop on. Up for meeting up with people at KX or at the start, though you and scobes are off quite a bit before me.

  • Aha, yes it was the 9.03 i was looking at. Didn't realise EC didn't let bikes on without a reservation! Obviously I've been spoiled by every other train company. 8.53 it is then.

  • Also, I've never been to Stevenage before, but Google Maps seems to suggest that the place is filled with amazing cycle lanes that are completely separated from pedestrian footpaths with grass verges. Turns out it's been designed that way since the 1950s!

Pretty sure this is old news to everybody else but it's well exciting for me.
