@TSK - I'd want a big heavy medal if I'd done PBP! Not sending off for the SFW brevet wasn't about spending a quid, it was about psychologically committing myself to probably doing a 600, as I've already mentally committed to a 400. I'm posting it tomorrow anyway...
@wools - I have medium and large Ortleib saddlebags I use as appropriate. They come highly recommended.
Have you registered spenceey? If not you can probably turn up and register on the line if you've missed the deadline, but this is at the organiser's discretion. You'll have to pay £2 more than AUK members to cover insurance, unless you already have suitable insurance they recognise.
If you have registered, you should have had a route sheet posted to you, but it's just a matter of turning up, the organiser will be at the start point and give you a brevet card. You get this stamped/fill in info from control points (for example, you might be asked to write down the opening hours of a tourist attraction or the last collection time from a post box) then they keep it at the end and you'll get it posted back to you.
Depending on the Audax you've picked, there may be free food at each stop, paid food, or no food at all.

Just received my medal for PBP, it's fucking massive. I think it weighs more than my bike.
Wow, must be nice to recieve that! Well done, again, TSK.

Spenceey - which Audax did you want to do?
Definatley register with Audax UK, then I'd try and contact the organiser ahead of the ride to check you can just turn up - presumably if your registration is being processed you could pay the 'on the day fee' (assuming this particular organiser will allow that) and then have the ride registered with the AUK website at a later date (when the organiser gets round to doing it)...

It's one of the Norwich ones this weekend. Can't remember the names of them though.

Just emailed them to see if I can ride this tomorrow. I'll be riding the 100k which is the furthered I've rode since my knee pain.
Bring it on I say!!!

Good luck tomorrow! You'll likely find that there will be several 'Control Points' along the way, and the pace is easy, so should give your knee a break!
Is anyone on here doing to Easter Arrow by any chance?

Thanks!
I've uploaded the route via the GPX but it doesn't exactly follow the roads, slightly confused!

Have fun spenceey!

After all: if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

Thanks Skully! Couldn't get the gps route to work on the garmin so I'm hoping I can tag along with someone - or grab a route sheet at the start, this could be interesting!
-

There are always groups to tag along with, normally always a spare route sheet or two. If the Garmin will not follow the route, just have it displayed on the map (select route, map setup, pick colour and tick display), better than nothing.

Maybe a long shot, but are there any London types who are up for a 200k audax in Kent this sunday? Logistics mean you will need to travel down on Saturday; accommodation is already sorted, as is getting there on Sunday. Someone's pulled out and I have a spare place, and the need for another groupsaver for the train there. I can explain more by pm.
Preferably someone I know. Or know by association. Anyone? Route is fairly flat, and the weather looks good.

Randonneurs...
Are people still out there riding Audax events, and if so what have people got coming up? I've found it a bit limiting trying to get from London to many Audax's, unless you're prepared to pay or accomodation the nights around the actual event - so anyone who is entering rides from London I'd be keen to hear about the more accesible ones.
The Dean 300km last week was an excellent days cycling - Next week its the 24hr Easter Arrow to York - anyone else riding it?

I've still done nothing because of the lack of a chequebook. Very frustrating. All the rides I've wanted to go on haven't had proper contact details for me to be able to suggest alternative methods of payment so I've been kicking my heels miserably since the start of the year :(

Hoping to do a SR series on a 1985 Bob Jackson I've recently renovated to fixed wheel. The most I've done so far on it is 100k. Still it should be "fairly" easy in the flatlands of Cheshire? I've got the highest admiration for those that can achieve a SR series fixed containing AA points. I'm afraid it would be more of a walk than a ride for me!

^^ You can enter most online using PayPal. Especially easy if you're already a member.
@Yossarian - Yes, but I think I'm somewhat behind the curve compared to you!
I've done a 100, 150 and 200 (the Man of Kent, see up there ^^^^) with spybot and we're going to do the Green and Yellow Fields 300 later this month, the Dean as a 'DIY' in May with fussballclub and have plans to do the National 400 in June.

I am a member - but the ones I've wanted to enter have all been postal cheque only for some reason. I'm more limited in the ones I can choose to do because I'm fat and lazy and I hate going more than 50 miles out of London.

that's in my neck of the woods! I'll hopefully be doing this, mind if I tag along?

@bothwell - Just identify one you want to do, turn up on the day and pay cash. I've not seen on the line entry refused yet: it would be within their rights as organiser but they don't seem bothered if you ask nicely.
@spenceey - Not at all! It starts from Hempnall, south of Norwich, is that near you? We've not planned any logistics yet.
@laner - Yes, out to Manningtree on the Friday night (it starts at midnight). We've already booked train tickets but you can still get them on our trains for just under £20. Come!

This souds interesting. Rail replacement between Witham and Billericay on the Saturday to look forward to.
Faced with doing my first audax this weekend. Never done one before so I don't know about how It's all handled really. Is it just a case of get in contact with person whos organised then turn up and ride?
I don't hold an ADUK membership, do I still get stamped for it though?
