I was thinking about it but didn't get an entry in before it filled up. I've done it a couple of times before though and it makes a good ride.

Anyone else doing the Wormingford Dragon this weekend?
-
• #3404
is anyone doing the 3 down 300km next saturday?
-
• #3405
I route checked the 3Down this weekend. It's still a fabulous ride I am pleased to say. Watch the wind in the new forest section - there will be some whatever! I was treated to icy headwinds most of the way home, which was a joy.
Enjoy it! I can't be at the event helping, but I know the team that will be looking after you and you'll be just fine.

Maybe.

In terms of routing I did LOL in one 200km file on my garmin. Would a 300km be to much
-
• #3408
Not from my experience. 400km with a tcx course just over 24h no problem for my 705. It crashed once very close to a nuclear power station in Wales at around 03.00h but resumed after restart.

I don't fancy cycling from oval to the start -

Health question for you guys. Got a bit of a sniffle today and even though it seems fairly mild I'm wondering about whether I should ride tomorrow? Have any of you ridden an audax while you've had a cold? I've paid for train tickets so don't want to DNS unless riding tomorrow is going to make a lot worse.
-
• #3413
Yeah, I'd do it unless I was feeling really terrible. In that case it's likely to just extend the cold so I'd not bother. If it's just a head cold I'd ride. Full body aches and pains or coughing and I'd skip it.

A sniffle, definitely start and see how you feel on the ride. Remember if there's any decision to be made about a possible DNF then make it after you've stopped, eaten and rested (most of the time you'll feel good enough to continue).
Can't think of a time when a long ride has made a sniffle any worse.
Post exercise protein (a pint of milk or a milkshake works for me) will help ward off the post-Audax immune system dip too.
Any symptoms below the neck and there's no dishonour in a DNS.

Thanks guys. Think I might give it a shot. Just did my strength training and seemed fine. A tiny bit of chestiness but otherwise slight sniffle and headache. I've done my 200 for March so I'm good in terms of RRtY.

Exercise helps to clear airways ;) BTW Never had opportunity to thank you for you leading me through later stages of the W/Warmer. In my tired/ embarrassed stupor hadn't realised you were fixed, (thought you were trying to lose me!) Well done and Thanks.

PM me if you like- Im driving from Brixton for the 3 Down and will have space in the Landy.

Hey, no worries. I remember someone latching on to me and we rode along silently in the dark. I was wondering whether it was lack of lights or direction that caused you to tag along. Then there was a big road and you went off with some other riders and I got stuck at the lights. I thought it was perhaps because I was pootling along too slowly and you wanted to go a bit faster.

Cycling war stories please?

Dropped wheel in rut caused tyre sidewall wonk. Puncture. Then went bang descending white horse. Luckily someone gave me spare tyre. Big toenail falling off so probably have to see gp for pod referral. Finished though so, fuck yeah.

Yeah, had a brief read about it. Depends how fucked the underneath bit is. Oh well. More scars.
-
• #3424
Man points for still finishing, massive rep to whoever had a spare tyre with them!

Chris Asher I think his name was. I need to track him down on YACF.
Spare tyre and one more tube is going on my list of shit to carry as well as a dry, soft cloth for cleaning glasses. No wonder everyone has massive saddle packs :)
Is anyone on here riding the Llanfair 400?
