Colouring in the H+ logos is a good shout.

If you know an engineer with a weak heart who you want dead, show him that stem.

What weaknesses are you concerned by?

Look at what happens to the steerer clamp bolt when you twist the extension, e.g. by pulling up on one side of the bar, as you do when sprinting.

How would you resolve that issue, using the same materials?

Longer head tube, and a more conventional placing of two bolts on the stem clamp.

Give DJ the points for getting the right answer. Placing the clamping bolt(s) at the back of the steerer means that the twisting of the extension, which tends to open up the clamp, gets translated into a nearly pure tensile load on the clamp bolt(s) by the camming action of the steerer in the split clamp. With the bolt at the side, twisting the extension will place a very large shearing load on the bolt in addition to the usual increase in tension.

Ok, I'll give him 2 points for the clamp location then deduct 5 for missing the point.

Aesthetically it works - in a way that having the bolt at the back would not.

Does it matter? The Feather is only ever going to be posed on, you don't think those mudguards will ever get grubby do you? Let alone an aesthetically unpleasing sprint with consequent loss of poise.......
