  • ^^ North or South?

  • Yeah but having light finishing kit that is cancelled out, is still lighter than having heavy finishing kit, no? ;-)

si si, but on a touring bike, the money value spent towards shaving off the 800 grams in question is diminished by panniers, mudguards etc. It becomes a bit gross, but then again such is often the nature of american customs with enve parts :D

  • I'd suggest that frame is probably lighter then you imagine .. the Skeletor road frames are about 1250gm. and those welds are probably Frank Wadelton's work .. Ed's the expert on these things but I'd guess it's a Audax frame rather then tourer?

  • I nearly bought one of these old NOS...but alas...not enough clearance to be my "shit snow cycle lane not gritted bike" so the Thorn XTC stayed

  • It's more likely a winter bicycle than a tourer/audax bicycle, can't see what wrong with having high end component on a bicycle you'd love to ride.

A couple of days ago was the first time I've ridden a bicycle without mudguard in the rain during the commute home, after I got home, the drivetrain is dirty and end up having to spray some WD-40 to wash off the dirt, my entire feet is soaked, and my backside look like a brown sign post directing people to my anus.

It would make sense to prevent accelerated wear and tear on expensive component by running a full mudguard.

  • all the expensive weight weenie stuff, even a ti ring on an old record crankset and then fenders and touring weldo-fest frame that looks heavy as they come.

edit: Oh i just noticed he puts the group on all new wheel build photos.

    This.

And it most def is not a heavy touring frame!

Although if the red ones his other bike I take slight issue with the amount of exposed seatpost. Why have an expensive carbon seatpost on a custom alu frame designed to be a winter bike, but yet have a straight top tube that shortens the seatpost and negates the comfort advantage you get from decent carbon seatposts?

EDIT: I guess so he could fit a full length pump.

Anyway; hubs, bottle cages, zipp stem* stop it from being top end porn. But I do love Spooky frames. Especially that purple one that seems to have disappeared from the Internet.

*should have removed the logos so as not to clash with the Enve.

smaller triangle = stiffer and lighter, carbon seatpost with lots of post showing exactly as you said = comfort (on the red)

The black Spooky have less of a saddle to bar drop than the red one which look better than a compact with a huge headtube.

  • beautiful bike !!!

  • Pinterest says:

Sorry, couldn't find any pinnable things on this page.

Which makes me think the Salmon is just something I dreamt.

  • WTF is that stegosaurus doin there?

  • It was chasing Gaston, and then somebody shouted DAS, thus proving that a dinosaur stops even slower than a braklz fixie skidder

  • Mudguard?

  • That bartape match, out of control.

  • That Salmon is the best thing that has happened to this thread in a long time.

  • all the expensive weight weenie stuff,

There's hardly any ww stuff on that bike

even a ti ring on an old record crankset

It's the ring that came with that crankset and it's not ti
