And the fact that the chain is so short that the wheel can't be removed without breaking it.
Yeah I noticed that immediately, that's what spoilt it for me, really.

Yeah I noticed that immediately, that's what spoilt it for me, really.
I have tried to explain this a fair few times, but it seems really hard for some people to grast so here it comes again:
if you derail the chain off the chain ring it will slacken significantly and you can remove the rear wheel without breaking the chain.
I didn't believe it at first either, but I have tried it and it works!
feel free to try it yourself if you're not yet convinced. -

Since the rest of the bike is a mix of high end weight weenie equipment (AX Lightness finishing kit / brakes) the Fibrelyte chainrings, I would suggest are another detail to get the weight down .. Also the cranks are Zipp proprietary 4 bolt fixing Vumaquad cranks so there's not a lot of chain rings available apart from custom.

^ That's probably true, but it's more hassle than having more links. I think that the clearances look asymmetric even if the functionality isn't impeded.

Mystery solved; they do flex. That's the whole point of the pencil stays on the R3 and derivatives, to provide better ride and handling on the pavé

Laterally stiff while vertically compliant?
