  • The official statement is since gone from rittes site but he was on the road forums talking about it around the same time. They share the rights to the frame with two other companies and he said they had some input on the model but it was designed by a taiwaneese engineer.

I'm not sure how much proprietary tech you can put into a frame nowadays that hasnt been done before or very close so with one of the best paintjobs in the business who cares if he makes dorras. It's a great first or second frame for people who care more about looks than efficient layups and weight.

I still wouldnt but I cant despise him/them for what he is doing

  • Thread is indeed becoming a bit gay.

    what?

  • Thread is indeed becoming a bit gay. More bikes please!

    negged.

  • I was joking ffs!

    Neg away, man!

    Lol.

I've not ridden one, but I suspect that it's a pretty solid frame anyway (I think review suggest as much), so it's not even a frame that is just a looker.

The only issue is that it is overpriced, given that you can get the frame for 420USD (as suggested earlier) and the same paintjob as the original Bosberg, which was the prettiest I think, for 120USD - an actual quote from one of the suppliers as I was thinking of doing just that.

    • 300% hipster tax....

    Seems reasonable.

  • flint catchers, they stop sharp things becoming embedded in your tyres.

Ta. Another bit of bike knowledge.

Just looking at the picture slightly gives me the jibblies as I've heard of incidents where the brake cable snapped, dumping the straddle cable into the tyre tread and causing an unplanned crash stop and subsequent superman impression over the bars. I got into the habit of zip-tying my straddle cable hanger to the hole in the fork crown as a result.

  • Where did the bike porn thread go?

Very reasonable, like the Cinelli MASH.

  • I went to this guy's workshop a year or two ago. Pretty amazing stuff. Mainly for weekend warriors but the craftsmanship is impressive.

I don't know if curio is the right word...he's definitely catering to people with money to burn that want something different but the bikes are just as well made as any other custom build. I suppose the custom/bespoke bike builder scene in general has a penchant for 'curio' though...
Here's some of his older work:

and a clean shot of the new one:

  • doesn't having the cable straddle thing that low kinda defeat the point of the big clearances

the lower it is the less brake chatter there is.

  • Tied and soldered spokes on a modern road bike?

  • Or really small spokey dokies. Fuck I loved those things.

    Go look at Lightweight wheels.

  • Ouch.

  • Those hollands are hideous. Especially the matching pump.
