You can't appreciate a bike unless it's been ridden, I can't appreciate a bike unless the valves are aligned properly. It's the variety of life that gives it its flavour, non?
Explained so much better.

Agreed, especially that dynamo routing. It's making me grind my teeth.
Custom rack and frame yet, do this = instant fail.
Doesn't take a lots of effort to ask the framebuilder to braze on mount for dynamo wiring, or even run them internally.

Here's my two pennys worth on this thread - it's less bike porn and more photography porn.
One word; subjective.
One man's porn is another man's Veronica.

Well, that's a very post-modern stance you take and I can appreciate the argument but if life was simply an infinite number of different ice cream flavours it would be a very strange place. Most people know chocolate, vanilla and mint-choc chip are the best flavours and more of these will be sold. As humans we classify things, in from the chaos. To me 'a bike', is something you do. photography or engineering or symmetry is a different category of thing. not that I don;t appreciate these things.

When someone says bikeporn to me I imagine a Ti GT with yellow finishing kit and a 10 speed group.
What usually happens is some airbrush tribal colnago circus appears

What, Veronica Moser? some will considered her to be porn worthy, lots of great example in Google Image Search.

Does anyone ride half these bike? or do they just keep them in showrooms, museums, sheds and polish them every second of the day. I can't take any bike seriously as porn unless it looks like its being ridden, like someone is getting the enjoyment out of it, like its being lived. Isn't that what its all about bike = man+machine in symbiotic relationship?
not to get into an argument, but sometimes it's fun to just build a bike. Plus, it's not easy to do well. Every try it from the ground up? When you're done take a photo and see if it gets any replies in one of the readers wives threads, Let alone posted here.

Aww, thought we were having an adult conversation for a moment then. You've lapsed into cliches and insults. Never mind.
Hope you achieve your goal of getting a bike (built from the ground up) reposted on this forum. That will be a momentus time for you and your family.

Funny how c-track all end up looking the same... Believe it or not but it's not a repost!

I love Cannondale tracks, if I had more money than sense I'd try to get one. Or one of the many copies. I love the combination of smooth, oversized alu tubes with the skinny steel fork. In fact the only builds I tend to dislike is when the fork has been swapped out.

If I may ask, do you really like that?
Getting pretty deep there Sandbag.
I agree to some extent; bike porn is only bike porn if it is also photography porn. The good thing about this thread is that (contrary to popular belief), anything goes - it doesn't matter what type of bike it is, whether it's ridden every day or once in a blue moon, whether it's old or new etc. It just has to be fucking awesome.
If anything this thread is for people who in some way enjoy going over the same ground week after week discussing and dissecting the same topics for no reason and most importantly being rude to each other over the internet.
Bike porn is what you make of it, but if you post shit looking bikes I will resent you.
ps. this is only my opinion and it's probably
wrongrightdoesn't matter.pps. I've seen pictures and heard about these bike museums you talk of but they seem to be in short supply IRL.
