I always read Wolber as Wobler.
We always used to pronounce it that way, deliberately, although only now have I considered how it would be pronounced in France. Wol-bey or Wol-bear?

I always thought they were German and I was pronounced with a V.

I think the French would say the second. I know Wolber were (are?) French, but it somehow feels like a German word that should be pronounced Vol-burr.

Also that most people called Wolber are German.
OMAS is another candidate, earlier TA Axix and Xytech BBs also had lock rings on both sides, albeit with different cup tool interface
