^^ That's a fairly understated CAAD10 build there - stack and headset needs some work but the frame and SRAM combo looks tidy.

^I really hope you are not serious
Why not? I'm not an aerodynamist so I don't understand what data is published, I have to read what is presented and offer by someone else paid by maketing .. If you look at the Cervelo test data attached you will not see the Venge shown in comparision. However, when Tour magazine did an independent test on some mass start aero frames not too long ago .. guess what, the test results differed from Cervelo's. So there must be variances in the test protocols? or Cervelo marketing guys decided that publishing the Venge figures was not in there best interest?
btw .. I'm not a fan boy of the Noah, but it is interesting. It should be in functional thread like all current pro tour bikes in my opinion ..

There should be more Real World testing done, there is much more relevance to the drag coefficient of:

But who is going to pay for it?
Anyone who has the motivation to obtain a whole bunch of 6k+ bikes, then take them to a decent wind tunnel and test them scientifically is going to want fairly significant remuneration for said activity.
If Cervelo does it then when I read the results I accept that there will be some bias.
Tour magazine will want to not upset potential/current advertisers, so there will be less pronounced bias (I assume) but there will be some.
What independent body would have the time, funds and resources to do this sort of test, that we would trust?
The UCI?

The only numbers you can trust, and the only ones which mean anything, are the ones you get from your own tunnel time with you on the bike. Your position, your wheels, your handlebars. Manufacturer tests and magazine tests just let you narrow the field, so you only need to borrow 3 or 4 bikes to take to the tunnel, which will keep your testing bill the right side of £5k including trying different wheels, skinsuits and helmets.

Hmm, I broadly agree with you, but I think there is merit in a direct comparison of parts (vis wheels), as long as the test conditions are not ridiculous, and are replicated precisely for each wheel.
And, I suppose, as long as the test incorporates a rider, etc etc.
I might be agreeing with you a bit more, thinking about it.

I may be missing the point, but T-V neatly paraphrase's my understanding of Colin's post.
As interesting as it is to read these tests and comparisons, they are irrelevant to the majority of people reading them;
9/10 riders (figure plucked from the air for emphasis) would be better served by eating fewer pies than buying a tunnel-tested bike.

Or to put it another way, if you're good enough for it to matter you have to ride what your sponsor gives you anyway.

True. I mean I bet those pros don't really care about all the winning.
They're probably only in it for the free kit.

Each Sky rider receives something like 700 items of Rapha kit this year (most of them are socks, granted).

The Noah looks like it was built very single mindedly. Its fast, while being fast, and at the same time, quite fast.
I'm so fecking bored of road bikes that are all things to all men. Responsive yet complient, light yet strong, night yet day, cold yet still warm etc. etc.
