ebay mercx
Lovely, but the catalogue bike has a flat crown fork, whereas the one in the auction does not :o

look at the difference in wear of the pantographing too
-

The bike in the advert hasn't got a computer, so the one on ebay must be worth more.

Merckx in the catalogue and the one in the photo are not the same - look at the fork crowns.
Seriously serious piece of porn though...

yes dan, we have discussed this above.

different tires
I don't run the same back and front, I don't think many people do.... different requirements at each end no?
Odd wheels...
explained is his current projects thread, 2nd hand wheels that for some reason came like that...
Grips on EC90 bars? They have grips built in.
do they?

^Hah, like buses.....
there is nothing exciting about this bike whatsoever
I agree in the main part and I am glad to hear that reaction in light of it being an all day, everyday bike. Not appearing to be ex-ci-ting is a good thing. The ride however is as "exciting" as any other bike i have ridden and much, much more....in fact, its a dream :)
Odd wheels... different tires, valve caps and hubs.
Grips on EC90 bars? They have grips built in.
wheels are the same (other than brake wear) as are the hubs. The grips have been removed (only as i don't like soyos) and valve caps now match...tyres are set for longer wear on the rear in a soma and nicer handling of the refuse upfront, well In theory anyway. Only just got a pair of the Soma's to try so I'm not sold on their handling in the wet. That Pic was taken in a hurry in between bars turning up, with grips, and taking the bike for its maiden voyage, wasn't in my mind it'd make it here.
Depends who is riding it.
I stuck my missus on it, then my dog (all i had to hand) but the bike still weighs the same, light ;)

I have the same frameset with the same fork crown

^^The lower part of the drops are textured, but grips will offer a few benefits (i guess) dampening, personal grip preference, looks...

So if the EC90 bars have "built in grips" (lol) why do they have a step down to a skinnier tube which a track grip just happens to fit perfectly on to?
-
• #59815
I have one of those around, definitely not grips
-
• #59816
I know that ^^, but I find it strange that the step just happens to be in the correct place for a grip to fit. As if it was intended for use with a grip. I guess people like Hoy prefer to use chalk and a bare bar.

Sorry, does not do it for me :s
Wheels colour scheme has too much going on, bars don't look sexy, that chainring isn't either...
Sure it served its purpose! -
• #59818
hmmm, does the job i guess; reminds me of those naff 70's curtains though...
-
• #59819
wheels don't look round either, probably a scan.
-
• #59820
The scan seems to have made the tubes bent too.
-
• #59821
that road in the background looks all bent out of shape too

Those Dura-Ace cranks are pure cack.

Re. The nutorious Nuknow has already raided the webs of all it's treasures. Including that Merckx. Unfortunately enough.
Bloody nice tho.
Awesome picture. Looks like an epic gear he's rocking too.
