On the fatties subject, can someone care to explain me this? Please...
Does it mean the front wheel is also a back wheel, and carries the fixed "flop"?The Pugsly uses a standard 135 OLD rear hub. The rim is offset, so that the cassette side is pushed out. This to allow the chain to pass the fat tyre, while in the granny ring of the crankset. In order to get a 100mm tyre in the front, its obviously a good idea to have more than a 100 OLD front hub/fork combo. So Surly just went with a standard rear 135mm. Then figured they'd offset the front fork legs too. So you could swap wheels. Fatbike wheels are bloody expensive. So if you fancy having both SS and hub gear options for example. Its nice not to have to buy an extra wheel.

Those are Maxxis Hookworms 2.5", on 65mm Surly large marge rims.
Hookworms do look the part. The first pick has them on 65mm Large Marge rims. Which gives a great profile.
The second bike is gorgeous. Would be great gravel path bike.
Look even better on 82mm Surly rolling daryls.

Its inspired me too much. -

Would your average mtb be able to run Hookworms 2.5", 65mm Surly large marge rims?
For some reason I think it would be fun to have a random old kona with those Pugsly forks.
In fact does anyone know if there's a resource which has the rough width of tyres?

Its definitely possible. The fact that the hookworms are basically slicks means it not as big as a 2.5 knobbly. There are plenty of trials rims at around 45mm if your're struggling.
Shiggy (of On-one fame) has a MTN tyre spreadsheet with widths.
The Fatbike forum on MTBR.com has fattyre widths on different rims on the FAQs thread.
There is also a 29er tyre list on the 29er forum of MTBR.
(sorry lazy to find links)
As for an old mountain bike wearing fats. this is pretty cool (and modified).

The best bet is to get an old 29er frame. Fat tyred wheels end up pretty similar in size to a 29er. Then buy the fat fork of your choice. There's loads out there, and in every material. The Maverick SC32 is a sus fork, that will take a 3.7" tyre on a 80mm rim.
Fat 26" floaty front + knobbly 29er rear. Is a popular combo.

That and the Salsa Enabler too, like this one fitted on the Surly Karate Monkey, cheapest way to go fattie (front end at least).
Was toying with the idea of such fork and wheel for the cheap Diamondback!

Was toying with the idea of such fork and wheel for the cheap Diamondback!Hmmm.... maybe at some point when I've got spare cash. I do like the idea, just for the idea's sake rather than any real point. It would most likely be a shopping bike.
The only problem is finding a 29er frame small enough.

Sneak peek at the TM01 track version made for Switzerland's team pursuiters, nomnom.
The wheels spin so fast it can create a vortex which makes your glasses fall off.
All of Donnys bikes in LMNH's are amazing, I offered him £100 for the track one but he wasn't having it.
Close to damn near perfection.... not sure about the tyres though.
