  • Boardman is a repost - it's a shame, they are way too keen on the logos on all their bikes, almost as if they don't want you to be able to hide it easily... at least on the CX model I have the logos are black on a dark grey frame, once there's a bit of dust on there they ain't so noticeable. The bike above got a really good write up, either pro cycling or cycling plus a couple of months back...

People here wet themselves when they see the logos of (former hour record holder) E.Merckx or (former hour record holder) F.Moser, yet poor little (former hour record holder) Chris B from Hoy Lake gets taken to task for putting his name on a bike.

  • Tester, they are way too keen, they even logo the inside of the fork legs... I don't care so much what the label says, hence why I own a Boardman, more the over application that bothers me.

  • Also helped by Halfords not selling Merckx. Would people feel the same if Boardman were only see in in good bike shops.

  • People here wet themselves when they see the logos of Roberts or Framemaker B, yet a successful frame maker with loads of pedigree and success gets taken to task for putting his own opinion on a bike forum.

Sorry...just moving a mirror through here....don't mind me....I'll be out of the way in a second....as you were...

Death knell for any bikes... same happened to Voodoo I seem to recall.

The Boardman logo just isn't as nice.

Voodoo have been going bust every few years since the mid-nineties.

  • Mmmm. Foreign shit.

Chris is a pin up in Bulgaria.

  • that bio racer is unbelievably fit!

And the contemporary Merckx bikes are different how? The 'million logos' thing is not a Boardman issue, it's a pretty much universal thing on current frames. Didn't somebody count >30 "LOOK" logos on one frameset?

  • ^30+ was on a build, not just the frameset. I did get a bit carried away with bottle cages, bar ends, pedals etc. but only used one branded headset spacer.

  • well, imo that Merckx looks ridiculous and tacky, doesn't do it for me at all aesthetically. Would still like to ride one reet quick, but visually it makes the Boardman look subtle.

What, no LOOK bar, stem, seat post, headset cap and embossed tape? :-)

  • embossed tape must be good for >60 logos itself?

  • How do you get such sick clearance like this? Is it purely a case of finding the right sized forks? Or do people cut their forks down?

  • ^decent track forks tend to have a small clearance for aerodynamics and shit.

Ahh, that means spending copious amounts of money :(

  • not necessarily.

  • How do you get such sick clearance like this?

You find a true track fork from the era when tight clearances were fashionable, around early 70s to mid 80s. The most mental ones combined the fashions of tight clearance and 18mm tubulars, making them unusable with anything else.
