  • So, search for terms about which I know nothing, to find a brand name about which I know nothing, or ask the lovely, approachable folk on a single-speed message board? No, completely unreasonable. My mistake.

Andyp, I tried Evans, and one or two other places. Folk in there are friendly enough, but I'd like to do some research before I buy anything. Given that I know almost nothing about the bikes, a friendly message board seemed the place to start.

    Sure I'll find one soon.

This place is friendly, on the whole. But, rather than spending just a few minutes nosing around and trying to work out where best to ask your question, you dive in and post in completely the wrong thread, then get all arsey when we poke some gentle fun (which is what it was) at you.

Velocio, who owns and runs this place, likens it to a pub. Would you walk into a new pub, march up to a table of people you'd never met and ask them a random question, vaguely related to pubs? I doubt it.

So, don't take it to heart, spend some time searching and asking sensible questions in relevant threads and you'll get on fine.

  • Someone called me a nerd the other day, I was shocked!

So I got the bus home, read some of my Warhammer 40k book, got in, played some Fallout New Vegas, then browsed some internet forums in bed. Fuck him!

  • Can't believe I've just been cool story bro'd.

  • Sorry to quote this pic again but I'm in the market for some bullhorns with a short reach and intern cabling - a bit like like what she's using.

I realise these have no internal routing but is there anything which is similar on the market place?

Nice brake, shame the fork crown isn't talking to the head tube.

  • ^True.

I didn't really notice that... which speaks volumes for the aesthetic quality of the brake imo.

That is a horrible, horrible paint job.

  • Needs a disk.

  • Would it be for track use (i hope)? Considering the fixie skidder behind it..

that 496 is mine (located in Hong Kong)
I'm hoping to get it out on to the track more, I have other bikes to play around with so don't worry.

  • Nice brake, shame the fork crown isn't talking to the head tube.

Shame they put an Easton fork on a Scott frame .. that'll upset the handling

  • I wish people would stop using those stems on such lovely bikes.

You mean the Look ergostem which comes on some of the Look 496s?
The very well made and stiff stem that allows the riders to switch between aerobars and sprint bars and get their position dialled exactly?

I was just coming here to respond to that abomination of a post, yes OZ, yours.
    Get.a.fucking.clue.

  • also i thought you had to use ergostem's on 496's?

  • What the fuck are you?

    Half man, half goat.

  • Meeehh.

  • And since when did this become 'any stupid question answered'?

  • someone 's touchy today

  • You can't touch this.

  • also i thought you had to use ergostem's on 496's?

The current track ones come with a non-articulated stem

What's wrong with my post? They're fucking ugly stems. Functional yes, but as MDCC has pointed out there's a much nicer option out there which has been around for years. Fixed length for whatever angle you need to run.

  • why do you have to put 3 posts for what could easily be said in 1?

By the way.. that Miyata crank looks a bit tiny
