  • Love it. More win than Charlie Sheen on a good day. Wish I could afford to have a bike like that made for me.

  • Sudden case of brand loyalty?

Actually, I love it too TBH.

ha - no. I just like it!

I'm normally skint. I just kept my eye out for parts that were on sale for about six months, slowly building up the groupset. Found a great pair of wheels (Mavic CXP33 on Hope hubs) on BikeRadar cheap, bought a few bits on here too.

The frame is from Donhou. He prices jobs up individually, but you could always see what he charges, might be more reasonable than you think.

  • what group is that? Athena?

  • Just sent him an email about some forks. Would be nice to support a local business.

I was meaning the frame more than anything but the whole build is well tidy.

I'm currently funding the restoration of my Ford Capri, a fixed gear build for the missus, paying off my Langster (the shame) and I'd like to rebuild my Major Nichols for summer which I stripped last year to pay for an engagement ring. A custom frame is going to have to wait :( or I may have to reassess my priorities :)

  • Non-cyclists I've spoken to about it look shocked when I say what I'm spending on a bike. But I don't run a car, motorbike, SKY TV package, shopping addiction...

It's about where you spend it, I guess. I'd say a Capri is a worthy money-pit. Bit of a smile-inducing car.

You should never tell a non-cyclist your bike cost more than £400. Its in the rules.

  • ^ this. They do not understand

  • Feels likeits been £400 forever though. Is this rule not subject to inflation?

  • I find it mad what people spend their money on. People who buy a new Ford Fiesta every three years, for example, with depreciation hitting them for about £2k a year.

That's considered normal and sensible, but buying a fantastic road bike, custom-made, which I'll use for years and years, at a fraction of that cost, is extravagant? Do piss off...

I wouldn't even listen to someone arguing that it's too much to spend on a bike. None of their damn business.

  • My business partner loves watches, he used to source them for a living - he thinks that anything under £5k is cheap for a watch.. and yet laughs at my expensive carbon road bike.

I am in no doubt who will get the most pleasure and satisfaction from their object though..Plus, I am 27, with no mortgage and no kids - once those things happen bike purchases will be extremely restrained and conservative

  • Ordered these around midnight on Wednesday. Bit tired and excited. Even at around half price, my head is still spinning from the exuberance of the purchase.

  • Posting your own kit in Bike Porn?

  • Not mine yet.

  • A mere technicality.

  • love this

  • Those Rotor things are hideous anyway. Expensive anti

Not if the cranks that they were bought for dont turn up, it wont be.

A while back, Rotor did a run of 165mm cranks, aimed at the recumberant crew. Not sure they sold that well (or maybe too well?), as there are not many around now. Anyway, they were the best compact 165's I found, so went for them. Its all about fit really. Campag think I'm too heavy and my legs are too short (insert, forever alone meme)

    Definitely arguable.
'Tis a lot of Win there to be that simple.
