It's a Litespeed really. Merckx collaborated with them to build his titanium frames.

Merckx didn't ever fabricate it's own frames did it? I thought they were always built by other people, depending on the region? They were just badged and painted by Merckx?

When he was a rider he used his fame to license his name to go on frames. Here in the UK, Falcon licensed it and made supermarket specials (I got one for Christmas 1980).
After he retired, he founded his own bike building company and asked Ugo de Rosa, who built a lot of his race frames, to move to Belgium for 6 months to train his staff in the art of framebuilding. These later frames, and I think the company was founded in the late 1970s, are proper racing frames.

so my 88/89 Corsa Extra was built in the Merckx factory?
That's nice to know
-
• #44516
He stopped doing licensing deals after he set up his onw company, so yours will be a geniune Merckx, made in his little factory outside Brussels.

I quite like it - nice illustrations.
Just a shame that you can't see the detail of the lugs under all that paint.. and the conversion with flat bars makes me a bit sad too. If it was ss with drops then it would be lovely.

Actually, I love it too TBH.
