  • Worth embedding, Rob's second entry in the Porn list. He's quietly doing some sweet stuff.

OK, i need that in my life! maybe the straight bar with no stem clamp looks a bit weird, but fuck this is a one good looking bike!

  • nice frames - hate the logo.

  • I didn't know that bike would be an agitator.
I hope this one hasn't been posted yet, as I couldn't figure out by searching for "Mercian", such was results' volume.

I particularly like the colour transition on the seat stay.

  • So whats all this about then?

    ...some sort of quill-a-head?

  • is that the one done by death spray custom. if it is, it has been in here. i think i saw that bike at TFG and at push.

Can't think of a worse place to put something like that on an off road bike.

    Unless I'm missing something...

  • its just an ahead upside down, and it's bloody good idea.. love it. cleans up the bar area .

it loooks like the stem and steerer tube are brazed together in one piece.

  • yeah fair point will get mucky/rusty as.... change for the sake of change? meh

As is always the case, It's been done before.
Pace research did the exact same thing on the very first RC 1OO mtb over 2Oyrs ago, before aheadsets were even invented.

  • ahead fork....? nice.......

To be honest, Pace frames don't go for as much as you might think...ever since the company stopped giving a shit about what they used to make and became just another face in the bike industry crowd. :[

That bike was so far ahead of it's time.

  • My mum has two Pace's...my old Red team issue and her ice blue one. Lucky Mum! :]

  • Scott baby, write a book on MTB, seriously.

    I'd buy it straight away.

  • see that pace fixed gear, where are the square tubes? where is the carbon?

    fail

  • So whats all this about then?

It's about Rob showing off on a bike he made for a show - those odd little details get people talking, even if they are unlikely to be replicated on a customer bike.

  • Dont get the clamp on fork idea.

The fork crown area has much greater forces acting on it than the stem, you need more strength there not "corrupted" by a cut out & clamp.

The only purpose I can see is if the rider is likely to swap over their forks often, but wishes to keep the bars setup the same. But it seems to me that fiddling with different stems occurs more often than switching forks.

In fact if you wanted to fiddle with different forks you'd be better of with a sytem that you can actually buy forks for.

Nothing wrong with showcasing something different, mind.

ha, ya beat me to it.
and yup, pace used to drill out the threads in the topnuts of headsets, feed the steerer thought, with a bolt in the end and a nut which sat in the underside of the fork, tighten nut= tighten steerer.

    absolute Bollox!
there are far more forces going through the handlebar, stem, headset and fork steerer, than the bottom.
    lethal!
