It's not a tourer actually, far from it, it's a randonneur bicycle, it's basically a long distance non-competitive events (something like 300-1200km), so there's little/no need for a proper rear rack loaded to the ninth.
the front end allow the cyclist to reach his bag while riding, as well as being able to read the map, a saddle bag may be a better idea but it's cumbersome when trying to grab a sandwich while keeping the bike in control.
Also the rack is attached to the top half of the fork so this wouldn't compromise the handling of the bike as much as one that's attached to the fork-end (that tend to stiffen the fork making it less comfortable to ride).
have a butcher at this wiki to read more about it.
if you're looking for a proper cyclotourist's tourer, here you go;

Yes, back in the olden days when road bikes had only one sprocket, fixed/free was quite a common set up. Ride to work all week on the 18t freewheel, turn it round to 15t fixed on Sunday for a time trial.

As long as I am able to walk I do not see what purpose it has to ride a trike, except from not unlocking the cleats while you wait at the traffic lights. Nothing is hot at this thing. Double frontcalippers: suck. Saddle: suck. DA group: suck. Trike: suck. And porn is this? Is this porn and? And porn it is? Porn and it is?
that's all well and good but what do you think of it?

Has anyone pointed out to No-dice, who those trikes are designed for?

Have you ever thought of trying one? (no I am not implying anything)
Looks like it might be a fun thing to ride on ice/snow, nice drifts around corners and so on.

made customized by merckx for indonesian tracker. only 3 in existence. (the story by the owner) i don't believe it myself, but the flag of indonesia colorway on the bike seems convincing.
what do you think? is that true? =)
ps.sorry for the bad image
No, not an original colour scheme - just a factory one. My 88/89 Corsa Extra came in these colours.. though I've not seen a frame with track dropouts in those colours

Does anyone know if this saddle actually came out? I think it was a Selle Italia, and at a trade show or something. It makes my Stripped SLR look positively sluggish.

First time I sit back in the saddle after a climb that thing would go through my bibs :(
- I bet they have to add reinforcement to make the design work. Making it heavier instead of lighter.

Also looks like it could pinch just where you don't want to be pinched
(unless you are into that sort of thing)

Does that saddle have a monorail?
only notice this because Selle recently release monorail saddle.

It certainly looks like it. Seems to be a good idea to me although the numerous examples of reduced SDG i-beams maybe suggest people are not buying into it for some reason?

Probably because they're rock hard.
No rails and a big plastic mount under the saddle means less flex. -

Tried a stripped Pivotal bmx seat, it felt like there was a scissor jack being opened up up my ass.
The bag on that tourer makes the front end look cluterred.
It doesnt even have a rear rack which is ridiculous. Switch the front bag for a saddle bag and it would look a lot better and probably feel better to ride.
