I love that Pinarello there is something about that black stem that makes it stick out from all the other components and work somehow.

Ed, edited.
isn't low pro now regarded as useless in time trial when they realise that a normal bike with TT bar be enough?
-
• #32781
Yes, lo-pros are out of date (although I quibble "useless" since I still race on mine at least once a year), but they were an advance on slimmed down road bikes.

awesome attention to detail, stop giving them away...keep the next one!

That Llewellyn is flashy without being beautiful. It's tried to go for the porn touches without paying attention to the overall look. Pity.

What would be the advantage over a purely cable driven brake?
they were played with sometime in the mid to late '90s and some companies still produce them but i believe with MTB "V" brake pull compatibility.

shimano use mineral oil as do magura so no eating paintwork. sram(avid) use dot fluid
As far as I know, mineral oil does not degrade like dot fluid which has to be discarded if the bottle has been open for too long.
It is less harmful to environment.
You can use LHM oil from a car shop which is basically the same as the shimano/magura oil but much cheaper, or as some trials riders do, water! (bear in mind it will expand/freeze etc).

They both do it for me. I'd ride them till I sweat, clean them with baby wipes and hang on my wall after.

Water is an excellent hydraulic fluid with just a few tiny drawbacks. It boils at a rather low temperature - no problem on a trials bike, where little energy is dissipated in the brakes, but disastrous on something which has to be stopped from high speed. Also, it's a strongly polar solvent, so highly corrosive in environments containing dissimilar metals, e.g. steel hose couplings inserted into aluminium callipers. Freezing is a problem too, as ice takes up more space than the water from which it was made, and it's surprising how much force it will exert on a closed vessel as it tries to express this tendency - enough to crack your callipers, probably, since it can quite easily crack granite mountains to a fine rubble given half a chance.

Even if we disregard the snobbery which says Italian branded frames should always have Campag, 7900 is still the ugliest groupset ever* so it automatically disqualifies any bike so equipped from porn status.
*Well, it was until 7970 turned up.

It looks good on DJ's Mather, though.
