interesting set up with Hampsten. they get their bikes built all over the place.
moots, eriksen and indyfab.
I would probably go straight to them TBH.
the pegoritchie tubeset lugged bikes look nice though if you can't afford a richard sachs or pegoretti luigino -

I've completely missed out on a Jack Taylor road frame by a fiver, so feeling rather annoyed, some jack taylor goodies with my favourite fork crown (not the frame I've bid on);

If getting the bar angle at the right position is the main problem, surely marking the bar by putting a sellotape on the stem/bar and mark it instead would be easier?
by the time you arrived, just match the line on the stem/bar to get the position perfect.
why not just take the stem off and leave the bars where they are?

otherwise the fork will go walkie in-transit.
it's a good idea to leave stem on to keep the fork together to prevent it from rattling.

go back and look at the cinelli you posted. i actually thought you were kidding. whats going on with the front end? Maybe i'm missing something.... but to me it looks like that bike calls for a 650, and someone put a 700 fork/wheel on it.

Good call, miss that one, maybe by the angle.
; ) thanks -

I was going to jump to a similar conclusion, but then I thought how nice it would be to not have to spend ten minutes getting the bar angle back to "just so", not to mention the need to carry a torque wrench if you have carbon bars.
I'm still not convinced. Ed solved the bar angle issue, and if you run carbon bars, you're most likely not the sort of person who wants to run a 250g stem.

That silver-grey Hampsten is sex on wheels. Proof that carbon fibre can look great on a lugged steel frame.

Yummy, and I do love the typography;
Me too. Looks a bit like the typography on my Major Nichols which I am very fond of.
Also lovin the Jack Taylors, Malvern Star and the Alex Singer (appart from the bottle cage). Best couple of pages in ages for me. Good work Ed

Could fit a small clamp (like a seat clamp) just below the stem to hold it all together.

Was in Williamsburg recently and happened upon Horse bikes, went in and had a chat with the guy who runs it, really nice bloke producing some quality frames, few pics attached, but there is also a Flickr feed, I really like the seatpost...

It's frowned upon, but happens on a daily basis, so don't fret about it.
In your favour, yours is a classy bike and not some generic off the peg crap.

I feel that mild fretting is justified.

That is very nice, but it is better to put in current projects.
I know what you mean, that Hampsten is a perfect bike for a credit card touring, just add a Carradice saddlebag and off you pop, I'd prefer something like this beaut (Alex Singer too);
