Bit of vintage pedal porn, well it was when I was 13 anyway. Seem to remember them costing around £200 in the early 80's !

I had a chain snap once using a pair of Odyssey Shark Bites, chewed right through the neoprene strapping on my shin guards and still managed to bite my calf! God knows what those beartraps would do to a unguarded shin.

Apart from the tacky flame paintjob, that Makino is one of the most beautiful frames I've ever seen.

My brother has just got back from cycling 370K through the italian alps. Except he hasn't really cycled much before, and did it on a whim. He borrowed his friend's late father's bike to do this, and apparently it was 'old and steel' and rusty in places, and someone at bike shop laughed at him when he told them what he was doing on the bike. The 3 lowest gears didn't engage, and they didn't bother to repair it.
Anyway, he did it. With a 13kg bag on his back. And it turns out it was an old Bianchi he borrowed. The back brake was really weird apparently, and hard to adjust. Turns out they were deltas.
I'm going to try and rescue this bike.

Fizz is looking for a geared bike at the moment and has a geared frame, so really I should buy this for her and swap the parts around and put gears on her existing frame.
Yup, I struggle to try and buy things I really shouldn't buy. But it's GORGEOUS.

looks nice and simple but pretty darn pricy no?
-
• #30717
definitelty needs a change of cranks and le back wheel...
-
• #30718
What's wrong with the back wheel?
I don't really like either of them, the white hubs look proper naff.
-
• #30719
shit, i thought it was a different rim from the front.
agreed on the hubs... bleurrgh -
• #30720
The rims look slightly different. Front one looks deeper and anodized and the rear looks polished.

I met the guy who makes these at the White Bike ride in Glasgow at few weeks ago. I saw the bike in the flesh and it's even better than in the photographs.
There's more about the bike here.
I like that bike, it seemed like a hipsterised version of a dutch bike.
The price is a bit off putting, especially considering that a Retrovelo with additional rack can be brought for the same money.
Even more off putting is that the chain panel is optional extra, at £50.
Really like the red one mind;
Just saw this little mention
in adoubletap's post with the track bike with a split seatube.
I am intrigued ... Digs? Show us!
